The images in the pelican parts link, shows the floor jack under the engine, but unfortunately the engine in the pic is not the same as the 996TT. They are using the oil change plate as the jacking point, which the 996tt does not have, but aircooled did.

Different engine, looks like aircooled

^ bit dubious about that myself. the rms is a little rubber ring. nothings gonna hurt it by jacking the motor and resting it on a jack or stand.

not to mention the transmission is bolted to the engine, so its not like the entire weight is resting on the input shaft.

Lifting my the motor is a moot discussion IMO. Because the proper lift point at the chassis cross brace is only a couple inches ahead of that. Why lift by the motor when you can lift by the cross brace?

so you can support the motor to do motor mounts, which is the whole point of this thread?

Lightbulb RSS Top Seller | #624 Performance Engine Mounts | Back In Stock!

RSS Top Seller #624 Performance Engine Mounts Back In Stock!

Direct LinK: http://rss.rpmware.com/rss/rss-perfo.../i-533242.aspx

• The RSS Tarmac Series Performance Engine Mounts are designed for the Porsche driver who demands the absolute maximum in precision handling, feedback and control from their chassis.

• With factory hydraulic engine mounts, the drivetrain will move independent of the chassis during acceleration, deceleration and cornering loads. This movement can upset the balance of the vehicle and create negative handling effects.

• Our performance engine mounts minimize these effects by utilizing specialized polyurethane bushings which offer a firmer, more direct driving feel with optimum feedback.

• This upgrade will NOT adversely effect ride quality or cause knock sensor issues commonly associated with solid engine mounts.

• AVAILABLE FOR ALL 996 & 997 MODEL VARIANTS INCLUDING TURBO, GT2, GT2RS, GT3 & GT3RS

How so? The trans is bolted to the engine block. All stress is on the mounting and bolting surface. All stress is passed through both cases!

RSS motor mounts are beautifully engineered but the benefits are super marginal, dont bother going there

I had a weird vibration that would shake the passenger seat when idling on the stock mounts some times. With the RSS mounts its gone. I am so used to my GTI with the 034 Motorsports Track density mounts that the RSS feel tame (even though they give all the needed feedback with no real NVH disadvantage). Those 034 Mounts stiffened up the car so much that it sounds like I have a straight cut gear dog box in the car!!! It honestly sounds like a rally car inside (its pretty amazing). It pretty much feels like the engine is welded to the car lol.

Thanks again RSS for such a beautiful, functional, and cost effective upgrade.
Thanks for your feedback, glad your happy with the RSS 624 Engine Mounts. Some folks are more sensitive to the performance upgrade than others.

I'm close on the RSS but the fact that Flat 6 won't install them with their motors because they supposedly rob power concerns me.

Looking into that. Wonder what the shop manual says.
