I never got around to posting the other 2 Mecum cars that sold the same day as the $75k one...

Here they are:

(BTW: Above white one is already listed in upcoming auction in Punta Gorda March 17-18)

So the fellow who bought the White 2002 Turbo is flipping it? Interesting.

Here is the listing. Is anyone here going?

That's a great price on the white one. 53k seems cheap for a nice sub 10k mile 996TT. I would probably replace the Gembella parts back to OE. I bet the new owner that is selling it again will make some more on that one..

I'm thinking the car may not be as clean as it should for such low miles? Perhaps an accident or something else?? You can see from the other two 996 Turbos in the same auction. The other black one SOLD for $75,000 (which is over $80k with fees) and the highly modded one above hit $70,000. Guessing both of those cars were in better condition. 10k miles on odo is low but if the condition is not there, neither will selling price.

Guessing it will be a reserve auction. Talk about a straight flip. He is even using the SAME pictures used in the last auction. I'm surprised he didn't at least wait a couple more months and list it in a more known auction house (with new pics, at least).

The Black 996 Turbo Cabrio at Amelia sold for $104,500 !!!! 6 digits.

Wow, I was hoping it would hit $90k.

LOL...Holy crap indeed...that was exactly my thought.

I think they had estimated 70-90? Insane! Always great to see the platform get some love. '17 is looking great for 996TT so far

I am thinking the reason the Mezger engined 996s (Turbo, GT2, GT3) values are going up so quickly is because the M96/97 engined cars are considered worthless by a lot of people. If you want to buy a "collectible" 996 you have to buy a Mezger car.

^ and they are relatively easy to work on for those looking to actually drive a turbo regularly. And...they resemble the famous GT1 on the outside too!

No doubt, the fact that 996TT was blessed with a Mezger powerplant is what is driving the prices. In my opinion..as far as watercooled cars go all Mezger powered cars are keepers! I consider them to be in their own class and the prices are starting to reflect that.

Obviously this particular car I'm sure is pretty much impeccable and is an S, low numbers, etc. But it is still a very strong number for a 996TT and I think it does seem to match up with the trend. BTW the car has 18k miles btw which is very low obviously but not a under 10k mile or 5k mile car. One other note, the other black cabrio that sold in Sweden a few months ago for $97,000 USD was NOT an S (not an X50 either I believe)...still had a Mezger though

Im in Sweden and try to follow the market. Which one sold for as much as 97? The highest ones right now are 3 cars, none of them have the extras I have on my car, two with higher miles and one is on pair with mine in miles. One of these is a black 2004 Cab, low miles but auto.

It's tempting to put out mine on sale just to see how far it'll go. I've actually never seen a car like mine here for sale, ever. Germany is crazy, these cars are on pair with the 997 Turbo over there, upwards of $90-100k>

Thank you! That explains why I haven't seen it. Looks great and is basically a brand new Turbo cab.
