996 Turbo - Actual Auction Price List - Past 2 years - Mecum, Barrett, etc...
Not sure if there is a post like this elsewhere. (If so, I just wasted quite a bit of time making this list, lol)
Anyway, I went ahead and made a list of all the Documented Sales from some of the more popular auction houses. So far I have done Mecum, Barret Jackson, and Auctions America... I think there will be a couple more auctions in 2015 but I need to double check and I will add them. I figure if you are going to compare selling prices it would be nice to have well documented sales.
Some of the auctions below did not show photos of the cars that's why I did not add a photo here. You'll notice that I only added 1 photo of each car..that is because it's a pain for me to screen grab and upload that many pics. I added the links to the cars' auction page with all the pics and info
You will also notice that on some cars I grabbed an exterior pic vs interior pic. That is just because I may have noticed something interesting inside like color or perhaps a little more noticeable wear or something.
BTW, I did NOT leave out any cars that I found. These were ALL the 996 Turbo cars I found in these auction houses for 2014 thru 2016. If anyone finds a mistake let me know and I will correct it.

lol, it's funny...if you look at the list some of the highest dollar cars are modded (very lightly modded lol)...one of the highest even has a tune and another has what appears to be 19's
it is funny in a masochistic way as i was talking with a friend that sells a LOT of these and he told me the other day what mine was worth wholesale only because of the miles, and I've gone thru two boxes of kleenex, on principle alone LOL
No kidding!!...seems like the last sub 6 figure sale ever was the Palm Beach Barret Jackson one. I was watching the auction live on TV. The GT2 came on during one of those little side interviews that they do and then a commercial...the car was not shown even for a second on TV (I don't think it would have made any difference at all anyway). lol... whoever bought it crowned!!! It was no reserve auction!
Those are retail auctions. The dealer auctions (Manheim and ADESA) won't have the GT2's and frankly the higher end of the spectrum. I could post them up here, but last time I posted something that was perceived as a violation of the Rennlist terms of service, someone here started a campaign to get me banned. Sooo, if someone would like those numbers, shoot me a PM.
These are prices that people were/are willing to pay for these particular cars. Thanks to the internet I don't think that anyone on here would have to sell their car at wholesale unless they were in distress or needed money very quickly. If they did the wholesaler would then calmly resell the cars at the above prices.
true enough. i never thought about the depreciation because i know i was going to tack on the miles. but given i had done well on a loss payout, for some reason i figured that the values would always hold above 40 and for the miles under lets just pick a number and say 50/60k they have for the most part. but once you're over 100k in mileage i don't think it matters what receipts you have, or mods/no mods, stock or not as long as its mechanically sound, it's still a precipitous drop in value. no one wants to see "value" diminish that greatly, but them i suppose the trade off would've had to have been not driving it, and that doesn't make sense. since they are not "collector" cars. it's still strange to see the market value nearly cut in half from purchase. but hey, it's fun and there's no coin slot lol.
i think about someone like rob here who is driving his gt2 at what is seemingly a normal mileage rate ( though at least you guys that have seasons have to park you cars, or do to preserve them thru the winter months ) but tacking on miles to a gt2 i would think is even far costlier than to an ordinary 96t. no iinclement weather, means one could easily put 10k a year on it just messin around lol
