I decoded the VIN. It also has the X50 package and it is Boxter Red interior.

I called on it - it's sold. Can't believe they priced it so low!

Interesting. It seemed to photograph somewhere between NBL and Boxster red. Either is a great combo, IMO.

You won't believe this one, I called the dealership (Northwest Motorsports), made a deal at full price for the car and they hit my CC for $1000 deposit. They then ask for a credit app, even though I was paying cash. I asked why and they said 'any cash transaction over $10k we need to run a credit check as it's investigated by the government'. I comply as I want the car in that combo badly and don't want the deal to go south. They congratulate me on the car and say Finance will be calling. So they take my SSN and the app. I then get a call from finance saying the papers for me to sign are on their way and should be available on Monday. I'm psyched. At 8:00 at night I get a call from the GM of the dealership - 'got bad news, the dealership owner has decided to keep the car'. i explained 'sorry, he sold the car to me - I have a verbal contract along with deposit' - I also looked up the WA state AG page and the Washington State Automobile Dealership Act - looks like I have a case to sue if I need to. The GM said the owner would call me personally tonight but now it's 10:30 and no call yet though I'm on East coast. Looks like lawsuit time? Or do I just give up?

Any Lawyers out there who think this is defensible? I've been looking for three years for a 996tt that hits all the buttons and this was it....very bummed at the moment as I've lost three cars in the past week under similar circumstances.

A verbal contract and an accepted deposit, sounds like you have grounds for action... But at what cost in time, aggravation, and money... I had a similar scenerio, walked away a bit wiser, and ended up with a better car. It sucks, but there's always another one.

That's absolutely crazy! This sounds more like the dealer realized they under priced the car dramatically.

I'd make more of an effort to speak to the owner before you go the legal route.

That's my plan. It's crazy how there is so little integrity. People suck sometimes.

That blows. If you still want the car you might still be able to get it if you sweeten your offer a bit. Clearly they have realized they under priced it.
