2003 Porsche Carrera 4S
Lapis Blue Metallic on Metropole Blue
105k miles
6MT

1st Year of Ownership = $27k in Upgrades and Preventative Maintenance building a Street/Track Car. Build thread.

All of this was elective, nothing has broken. Would do it again too, don't plan on this car ever leaving the garage.

Non Turbo car? 26k is a lot compared to value of car.

Yeah, I was looking at Turbos too, they're incredible machines with one of the best powerplants ever. For me at least, I've always had a preference for NA and 10/10 would do the same thing again. This is the exact car I wanted to build. Although I'm typically not a big spender, I wanted the peace of mind on the track and believe in doing it right the first time.

If I'm honest, I really didn't think it would nearly cost that much to achieve that but it seems the 'fix it or make it better' bug bit me pretty hard and I've still got a few more things to go through before next season (brakes/tuning).

Guys,
Bought my 1 owner, dealer maintained, 44K miles, 02 for $41K. First year maintenance was oil changes, etc only. During that first year I hit a huge pothole at speed and had a rear tire blowout; replaced two rear tires. Second year costs included 2 front tires and ignition switch. Have driven 25K miles in those two years, daily driver and also driven cross country.

Default I'm thinking

I will never become a good enough driver to warrant spending that kind of money upgrading my Porsche. I hope to do the oil changes myself and just keep her stock and reliably running, that being said, I did have to put in a new ignition switch within the first month of ownership (just bought the car in October, 2015) and I put in a new battery at the recommendation of the folks who did the PPI since the one in the car was for a non turbo. I had a very nice 911 Targa Carrera with 151K miles on her and she ran perfectly but she was not a daily driver and my monthly cost of ownership was very minimal.

This thread is a really good idea though since even "car guys" sometimes get blind-sided by difficulty of maintenance (DIY) and cost, but I have always felt that besides being hands-down the finest production cars in the world (I'm talking 911-type) the Porsche is a sturdy, reliable car that should not break the bank if driven properly and often :-)

Oh, also need to fix that rear wing :-(

Nice car - looks great - love the wheels. Looks like you got a great deal on it. When & where did you buy it? From a dealer or private individual?

I purchased it from a customer. We have done all maintence and work on it for the prior 8 years. I am the third owner. It's an interesting story since I wasnt looking to buy and the seller didn't even have it for sale.

You must have done the alignment and other work yourself or was it included by seller?= your list would cost considerably more on average.

He's a mechanic by trade and the work was done at the shop where he works.

Yea, I actually did it twice at two different locations.

First at my own place with my equipment and then again at the shop where I work. The reason for doing it twice was simply to check some additional information my older home machine will not do.
