I just received confirmation that the options stickers are factory printed (two of them). The corner of one is adhered to the inside of the hood/bonnet, with the other hanging for placement in the Maintenance Manual. The dealers install one of the stickers on the underside of the hood/bonnet, and place the other sticker in the Maintenance Manual. I was told that the stickers have been known to fall off the underside of the hood prior to their permanent placement.

My theory is that the X50 option was added to the car, at the factory, after the bonnet stickers were printed but before the window sticker was created. I could see that being an option someone might want to add, after hearing about it or seeing it while waiting for their car to be built. Just a theory though.

If his car is the one pictured in his avatar, it's not Polar Silver.

Thank you. It's Lapis blue with metropole blue which makes for a lot of blue but the interior is pretty dark as you would know.
Total price was $155,875 U.S.
The interesting thing is I'm Canadian and in 2002 the exchange rate was the worst it's ever been at $0.66 on the dollar which would have made this car worth $236,000 cdn then.

great colors. no, you've got a keeper. the sport seats are leather backed? the blue would be stunning but either way, you did well on that one! congrats.
theyre just all great options/parts was my point.

apologies to the OP for the diversion.

Leather backed sport seats, yes. Thanks again, I do love it.

So, to the OP, I guess the best way to find out if it was factory equipped with the X50 option would be to call a Porsche dealer with the vin?

yes, very nice.. I've given up on finding sport seats since theyre always 3 grand lol

and again! fastest quick educated guess as to whether a car has x50 option or not is to simply run a hand down the ic's. 1.5 seconds tops!

That's true, unless the intercoolers where upgraded sometime after and not documented.

as mentioned above the sticker has the vin on it so it would be obvious if it was put on the wrong car. I was told that some dealers installed the x50 package. If so it would not be on the sticker. I suggest that you have a ppi done and the shop should know whether it has X50.

far as i know. x50 option was a build item ONLY. no dealers installed the "package", though obviously any dealer could given the exchange of parts, not counting the remap./ again, factory only item.

determining a k16 car from an x50 car would take most of us about a minute with blinders on. lol
