I just realized that I made a mistake in reporting my build date. It is actually 07/01.
I have documentation that shows the original owner purchasing the car in 01/01 but when I checked again I realized that was the date he placed the order. Not when the car was delivered, which was 08/01.

great debate! ( not this one )
carlo.. all this says to me is that you paid for an 01 MY and got a late/mid 01 build, oft and even usually referred to as an 02 MY lol. many in point of fact may have as you know, a MY 02 that was indeed made in late 01. that wouldn't be unusual. hence the added bits.
count yourself lucky.
as other have noted. some 01 vs 02's are DIFFERENT! and the parts have been FOUND! w t f lol. thats all this was ever about. slam dunk and elvis has left the auditorium.

That's all true to a point but the fact remains the stiffening was added in 2001 on 2001 models the discussion/debate/argument was never about what month etc and the early cars could be considered late 2000 models for that matter= Elvis is dead lol. Note I liked Elvis- you can giggle its ok..

I am shocked a 07/01 isn't an MY2002..
What does your emissions sticker say? Does it comply with 2001 MY or 2002 MY and what is the 10th digit of the VIN?

Original build sheet says 2001 Turbo in Biarritz White. A color only offered up to MY2001. I think in 2002 they switched to Carrara White.
Tenth digit of VIN is a 1.
As I posted above the original owner custom ordered and paid for the car in January 2001 but did not take delivery until August 2001.

If the updates happened mid-year, they can't market them for that year because it wouldn't apply to all specimens. So they wait until the next year.
Perhaps the legendary admission of a "screw up" applies to their commencing the updates mid MY01.
But, what do I care anyway, mine's a cabrio. At least it's an '04.

You still have not addressed the fact that my seat belt replacement clued me in that something was different with my MY2001 car. You basically insinuated that I made up the story. Clearly I didn't. What has transpired since is making it obvious to everyone that I am one kind of person and you are another. No spark plugs or oil necessary.

That is a very rare '01 Turbo, because back then the model year changeover (and new MY production) began in July. Early builds are rare, although they do occur sometimes with top models (the Turbo in this case). Most early builds are for display or journalist introduction.

An early O1 like I was working on Today had a build date of 03/00 that car had all the early car traits including the bumper warts. Mine never had bumper warts on it.
