Default New Owner 2004 996TT Cabriolet

Hello

Just picked up a new to me 996TT cabriolet black on black manual. Car looks amazing and looking forward to advice on the car. I am looking for a black on black hardtop and some advice on updating PCM software. Any advice would be appreciated. Car only has 18k miles and had tuneup and fluids replaced two years ago and under 1000 miles ago. Any advice as to what I should get serviced first?

Sam

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your purchase!!

I picked up my car recently (9 months or so ago) and first thing I did was change all fluids (except coolant) since it was replaced 2 yrs ago by the PO. I would say, change the engine oil, tranny and diff fluids, brake fuild, etc.

I have seen hard tops sell online (ebay, CL, etc) and they can cost about $500-$600.

Post some pictures of your car!

Cheers,
-K

I would flush brakes and change oil/filter, if you have records of others being replaced two years age they are fine. You could change plugs and check coils for cracks also. Sounds like a great car. Welcome.

Your car looks great. If you're going to be driving in the winter, the hard top is a good choice. But if not, you may be just storing it somewhere like I do.

Nice car. I have the same wheels on mine.

Yep, I store my hard top as well and don't use it.

Sam,
Congrats on your new car. It looks great!
I would change the engine oil and brake fluid. If you can't confirm that the Plugs and coils were done at that time, I would consider those as well.
As far as a tune goes, I only have experience with Kevin's tune from Ultimate Motorwerks. The tune is pretty amazing and Kevin is a great guy that is very hands on.
I'm also from Long Island, so if you wanted to ride in my car to see how the tune is, I would be happy to give you a ride. My car is stock otherwise. I can't believe the difference that it makes on my car.
Good luck with your new ride!

Hey neighbor, gorgeous car!

I'm on LI as well. Nassau/Suffolk border. I have a an '04 TT Cabrio also and would LOVE to get together and compare notes. I've already had some work done to my car, and you're welcome to check it out so you can see how it compares to stock. For my part, I wouldn't mind experiencing stock again, if for nothing else than to refresh my perspective on things as well.

Reach out some time.

EDIT: Hey up4speed, didn't see your post when I wrote mine. Would be excellent to get the three of us together!

Definitely!
Let's meet somewhere in the middle. Maybe we can grab some lunch or something. I also have another friend with a 2004 TT cabriolet that may be able to meet us, I think Fridays are best for him.
