That's what happened on my 996 Turbo. And that's why I deleted the rear wiper (I never used it anyway).
Oh! Is that what you folks were talking about . . . I couldn't imagine the damage, but that pic solves it all. I wasn't that motivated to do the delete, but NOW I get it. Thanks for the pic, darn, I may have to do this after all . . . KH
This post also now makes sense to me . . . It is a wonder I can even find my way out of the house each morning. I may do this as a temporary precaution, thank you-- KH
I am bumping this up because I am still unsure how the rear wiper scratches the paint. Can someone explain?
when it flips upside down during a lift off its resting place. I've managed to avoid any scrapes, but they are dastardly.
i'm keeping mine as the 3 times a decade it rains here i'm very happy to have it. i cant imagine with the slope and size of our rear screens not having this operable in inclement climes. seriously.
but there is no doubt it LOOKS better with it removed and plugged. cleaner for sure.
Dock, how much silicone should one use? What if I want to mount the wiper back on? Will the silicone get in the way?
I applied a small bead all the way around the plug where its surface contacts the body of the car.
I assume the silicone can be removed without damaging the car's paint, but I have not ever had a reason to remove the plug, so I can't speak from direct experience.
