Black Tinted Wax, any good?
 

I've been using PS21 for years. While researching to try a new wax, I've found quite a few black tinted wax for black to dark color cars. Almost every brand makes something. Has anyone tried them? Any difference from regular yellow carnuba? Thoughts please.

I actually tried the Turtle Wax "Black Box" brand on my black race car and it worked well. Wear gloves if you try it.

Nice Z06. Just trying to get rid of my spider scratches. Previous owner was obsess with wiping down the dust.

I have a Flex polisher from Germany that would easily get those out and back to perfect, just get a 3 step kit from Autogeek. The black polish will hide them and does work but light swirl marks are pretty easy to fix:cheers:

I think it's a gimmick personally. Look up your local detail pro and ask him for a price on a cut and buff. You can do it yourself, but I would leave it to a pro. I'm guessing they can get 90% of the car to look better than new.

Go spend $20 bucks on the turtle wax black box kit. I used on my midnight blue and was pleased with the end result. I wasn't expecting it to hold up as well as other premium waxes, but suprisingly after two weeks it has. Process is lengthy, but it will hide spider webs better than the white waxes I have used. As stated earlier wear gloves it will make a mess of you're hands.

will it hide small chips and scratches on a black car? Who ever came uo with the bright idea to use a grey/white prime coat on a black car should be tared and feathered :soapbox:

instead of normally drying white this will dry dark so you are not left with dry white wax spots that are impossible to get out all over the car. For the deep chips use a like colored crayon to fill.

Guys the reason it is "bunk" is that most scratches are only in the clear coat. Any perceived benefit is likely placebo as waxing car period is going to make it look better. Clear coat scratches look white. If you are through the clear then no black wax will fix it anyway. You need touch up paint at that point. To remove scratches you need a cut and buff. This involves a coupe stages utilizing different pads and cut/polish/wax agents to remove the outer scratched clear.

I mentioned the Flex polisher above, but I seriously would own a black car without one. It has the power and forced rotation of a pro buffer but it is also random. It makes it hard to screw up and safe. Check it out. A Flex will easily correct most clear coat imperfections, if you were close I'd do it for you:cheers:
This was before I turned it full race and had I had used the Flex on it.
