Do not really want to find out in either condition! But I do want my new-to-me, 30k mi. 996tt to be as reliable and long-lived as my '71T was when I sold her at 180k mi. & 29 years. That one never once let me down and was going strong even then. These are small, easy things to do.

Lost a post somehow.

Anyway,
1 - straight away.
2 - Maybe 5 - 10 sec. Or even a little more.

I want my new-to-me tt to last a long time. Whatever contributes to that I will do!

Last turbo I owned was a modified 92 Mazda R1. Always cooled her down a "long" time. Kid I sold it to blew it up inside of two weeks 'cause he didn't listen and tried to show a Camaro (of all things) how quick it was.

I also always let it idle down for a minute or two before I shut down.

no one rule fits all. if i'm pushing the car in heat, and have been heavily in boost? then i let the turbos cool and it makes sense to do so. if not, then i dont.

but i dont pull a fuse for an oil change. i'm pretty sure that porsche doesn't either? but they like when stuff wears prematurely, if they get the call to repair it!

you'll be amazed at the reliability and beating these will take. I'm at 127k miles and i push it pretty hard on a daily basis. but i maintain er obsessively, and change stuff before it needs it. thankfully my buddy is a pcar tech, without his help i'd be lost and like many of us, waiting until stuff NEEDS repair or service items would be closer the manuals recommendations and BS service intervals, which i think are pretty lenient in their timeline. worst i ever saw was trans oil flush at 90k! are you kidding me? i'm flushing mine after an lsd install and trans refresh at maybe 15k miles. it;s a gal of oil and 30 mins of my time. cheap insurance i'd say.

xo yeah..lets hear if for the small and easy things we can do on a weekly basis LOL
