the numbers of threads on "overboosting" causes and cures are too numerous to mention, but if a stock car were to regularly show 1.0+ on the dash guage then a vac leak and/or improperly adjusted wastegates ( not opening at their optimal psi..) might well be the cause. then there is the n75 which i mention as an afterthought..but it does "control" boost!

if you do a google search it probably will show the most recent rl and 6spd threads on the topic. there's one on this issue a cpl topics down and it was the owners faulty n75..so gl w it..

all that said, however..if you have an unknown tune/flash etc, then there would be your answer lol.

For what its worth, I've got a Cobb tune on my car with the AccessPort which has a bunch of cool stuff including gauges that read manifold pressure and target boost. The pressure read in the cluster rarely matches the manifold pressure. It may be measuring boost from a different place I'm not sure, but my belief is that the reading in the cluster is not 100% accurate. For instance, just cruising around giving a little gas the cluster reads .2-.3 bar whereas the MAP and target boost on AccessPort shows it right at 0.

i've often wondered about the *accuracy" of that dash gauge. .. and if it's anything like our gas gauges

The dash gauge boost display response is sloooow. I think it operates at a 1khz refresh rate, which means it can be showing a value that is no longer valid for 0.99 seconds. Not sure why they didn't at least have the same refresh on that as on the mph display.

thats good info. 0.99 seconds is about as long as i can look at it while in full boost

1 kHz refresh rate = 1000 times per second... I think you mean 1 Hz refresh rate.

EDIT: with that being said, the refresh rate using the torque app with a BT OBD-II is really fast and close to real time.

Sorry, not sure how that k got in there. But seriously, try to vary the throttle some time and watch the boost gauge show you boost for almost 1 second when you are completely off the throttle.

all of which has me thinking.. what percentage ( if any ) of boost spikes might be attributed to a displayed yet *inaccurate* reading from the gauge itself? they are after all, only .1's and sometimes a .2 over what we recognize as "normal".

possible?

Hey guys... I kinda forgot to put an update on my problem... :

So, the N75 was simply disconnected. A well known member of this forum helped me to find the cause of that issue last year. It took him about 2 minutes to find out. Now I boost to 0.7 bar, sometimes 0.8, so everything is back to normal.
