Annual maintenance costs
So I'm a bit of a budgeter. My wife thinks 'its weird' that we have monthly budget review meetings where I take attendance (Flight of the concords, Murray reference)...
anyhow, just budgeting for the coming year, and although I'll be doing my own oil changes, most other things I think I'll be taking to an indy shop. Ive searched on the topic, and there are a few posts from years ago, but not much that is definitive. Obviously mileage and type of use (track etc) are variables.
****So the question is, on average, how much do you spend annually on the 996tt for maintenance? If you do all the work yourself then what it would cost your indy shop to do it.****

I don't track my annual spend. Helps me sleep better.
Seriously, with a good Indy mechanic- these cars don't cost that much to maintain. Use a dealer and the equation changes very quickly.

^ agreed. i have a half price porsche tech who gives me the frequent flyer buddy rate and even still if i had to account for the annual costs i would think twice. so btw mods and maintenance continually, i spend a lot more on this than on an "ordinary" daily driver. but i put a lot of discretionary miles on it...
and it's a hobby

Someone with relatively good machanical skills can do 80% of all the maintenance themselves.
As others have said even if you paid for all services there is usually not that much that needs doing. YMMV.
If you do a lot of track driving that ups the ante quite a bit.

I think it's very low, but I like spending money restoring her and modding her. Pss10's, csf rads, sport seats, painted interior bits. The skies the limit. With regards to making the car faster. It's my first super car and I'll say its fast enough for me so im not spending much money there.

yeah numbers look better than I expected so far. I'm hoping to ward off the mod-bug for as long as possible. Although I swear it felt slower this week....
dammit... I think I'm getting used to it...

Mods vs Maintenance
I have spent over $15k so far this year but a lot of that is mods
My maintenance if we include tires this year will be $4800
so put me down for $3000-$4000 per year on avg
I am hard on cars but then spend the $$ to maintain. I also have very bad hand injuries so a lot of work I just cannot do !

I spend less than $1000 annually. Not my dd, but it has been completely reliable. Maybe a bit more every other year but nothing crazy - this is why I buy Porsches and not Ferarris.

First couple of years less than a $1,000. Then some major maintenance, clutch, brakes, plugs, coils, O2s, all fluids - average over five years of ownership = > $1,000/year. I do the oil and filter changes, and some other minor stuff. Major stuff, independent.
If you count the CPO covered service, then its closer to $2,000/year annualized.

It seems to me the routine maint items (oil change, etc) are not too bad; it's the repairs when something other than routine maintainence items fail that gets expensive. Spoiler, clutch, coolant tubes, radiators, etc. all seem to be a little costly, but don't fail on all cars at the same point. Thet'll all wear out at some point, just hard to predict when. If you're going to own one of these cars you have to be in a financial position to write fairly big checks from time to time.

Depends what you use the car for and your level of insanity. Seeing you are on this forum, you most likely will not get away cheaply. I drive about 3-4k miles per year, mostly track at 30+ days per year. I spend about $10k each year in basic consumables (5-6 sets of tires, 4 sets of brake pads, 3 sets of brake rotors, 6 gear and engine oil changes, 4 brake flushes, etc.). Unscheduled maintenance + upgrades average $10k+ yearly. I do 90% of the wrenching myself which saves me a ton of money on labor so the above numbers are pretty much parts only. I'm probably on the far end of the spectrum with garage queens under a grand and DDs probably $2k or so. It's wise to keep a $5-10K slush fund for the unexpected biggies. As an example, I had a rear hub break last month and that quickly turned into a $8k fix/upgrade. Overall, you'd be hard pressed to find a more durable car.

The poll is far from scientific, since there are so many variables, but it's still interesting to see how little many people spend.
