Former 996tt owner, current 997 GT3 owner...looking to go back
So I have some buyer's remorse in that I went from a very well tuned, low mileage 03 996tt and went to a 997 GT3 thinking that the track prowess would be enough to overcome the day to day drawbacks of the GT3.
Call me soft, but I miss the drivability of the 996tt and its everyday usability.
My previous '03 was tuned to ~500hp and had PSS10 suspension and looking back, it was the better car for me. While a covet track days, I really only go about 6x per year and the GT3 has been great for that, but I miss the boost and the PSS10's were a better compromise of street/track vs the stock GT3 setup.
Anyhow, I'm now looking to go back so a longshot of a feeler, but does anyone out here want to trade + cash for a 2007 GT3 with 35k mi? I'm looking for $75k for mine and a sub 30k mi clean 996tt manual with a tune and suspension preferably already done. Please PM if you're interested.
Secondly, does anyone know this car?

Thx in advance.

I've been thinking of selling my 6TT and getting a 7GT3. I'd be curious as to what you find undesirable on the street with the GT3. Is it just too rough and uncomfortable? Too radical? Or is it something else? Thanks...

IMO, the 997 GTS is the compromise car. Plenty of power, better exhaust note (stock for stock vs any turbo) and similar handling to the GT3. But more of the everyday usability of the Turbo.

Switched from a 996tt to a 92 965 to a 07 GT3 to a 997tt. The functionality and boost are pretty tough to beat although all were fantastic in their own right.

@sanyata, It's hard to say the GT3 is undesirable, b/c it does exactly what it was designed to do.....which we all know is to be a streetable track car. I just happen to live at 8k feet and one of the things I miss is the absolute rush of power the tt offers. The GT3 is plenty quick, but it just does not come close to a blown motor at altitude. While we also have smooth roads, the GT3 also is simply too harsh and loud for my tastes; it's always "on", whereas the tt had a dual personality albeit nowhere near as raw when the pace starts to quicken.
In the end my old 996tt simply did more things well and was almost as fast at the track. I'd argue it wasn't as good looking, but all 911's are beautiful to me.

I've not experienced the GT3 on my own, and have been very curious about them. Especially seeing all the pics & threads here where guys are taking delivery of their new babies.
With all that in mind, I asked my Porsche mechanic about the 997gt3Rs in the lot and he told me it's a car you drive for 150 miles and then get a hotel room. His opinion.
What I have personally experienced with my TT is that I can drive it all day, meaning a 13hr road trip from PDX to Yellowstone, very comfortably and sporting wood most of the way

i went from a 993tt to 07 gt3. I think the 997 gt3 is the best 911 porsche makes, but i am biased. i do prefer naturally aspirated cars over turbocharged. i think if you love boost, you will always be partial to a tt/gt2. i've driven 996tt as well as 997tt and both cars are more supple and not as harsh compared to a gt3. definitely feel faster once boost kicks in...but personally i prefer the loud and raw feeling of the gt3.

I have had them both ( presently a heavily optioned bone stock 997.1 GT3 )
I spent a lot of $on mods on the 996 TT to make it feel more like a GT3 handling .
engine was about 550hp and it felt like a brute to me. I never had a bad day with the turbo and was sad after I sold it. The torque on boost is intoxicating for sure .
That said the GT3 is very different.
You feel the lightness and the rear wheel drive which makes it very nimble .Mine has PCCBs it stops like the hand of God has it.
The engine is a master piece of smooth linear power which builds and feels like it will never run out of breath.
When you drive ,it is so precise you feel like you can thread it through a needle .
I have the adaptive seats and it very comfortable on long drives.
So better ? worse ? No just Different.
