Default UMW tune and X50

I've been running Kevin's tune on my X50 for over a year now. The car still flat out rocks! It is an animal. I'm still amazed today at how well the car drives and how strong it pulls.

I've searched for the answer but couldn't find the definite answer, so here it is:

How much power does a 996tt with X50 and makes with UMW tune and wastegate? People keep asking how much power I make and the only answer I have is around 500hp (flyhwheel).

Anyone knows the actual answer?

i'd say that was a reasonable if not somewhat generous estimate. advertised 444 crank on a stock x50 car and thats also with "gt2" i/c's instead of stock ( which help i am sure ) so to complete the equation. how much over the factory x50 tune would umw's tune give you?

would be the answer.

Depending on your pump gas, with my wastegate kit, I'd add an extra 50 to 60HP to that number..

To what number? 500 or 444?

One thing's for sure, I see 1.2bar regularly.

Excellent.
I'm glad you asked this question, Darth, I have an identical set-up. I get people asking me the same question all the time. Now I have a more accurate answer to provide.

Mine (02 X50) has Kevin's tune and hybrid turbos/wastegate, makes 542hp at the wheels.
Pulls 1.2-1.3 Bar all day long, 1.4 on occasion. Car is a blast.

What's the difference between the hybrid turbos/wastegate and stock x50 turbos?
What does it take (and how much does it costs) to get 542awhp??

I can't even begin to imagine how quick that can be...

^ I'll let Kevin chime in on the technical bits. Car was dynoed at a very reputable shop in Austin TX, about a year ago. They were very impressed with the numbers.

The X50 K24 hybrids compressor wheels are 50mm inducer (inlet size of the compressor wheel) The larger brother to the 997GT2.. Very efficient and utilize the latest design/engineering technology. For reference the stock K24 compressor wheel measures a hair over 42mm. Email me for pricing.

it would be hard to imagine a better day to day setup for these cars than the hybrid 16/24 setup with supporting mods. i'm at those power levels with them as well. never a problem and the car is a stung mule.

Is that the same hybrid Kevin is talking about?

I'm a bit confused with all the different turbo set up. Can someone give me a quick summary of the different options with pros-cons of each? I am kinda lost...

Are you running the stock exhaust?

yes, essentially, though it is best to let the man himself explain any differences. mine are the old school hyrbid 16/24. not billets. they spool quickly ( virtually instantly ) and have the traditional top end of the k24 turbo ) which is good up top, but down lower rpms kinda lag like an old two stroke before they hit their stride and favored rpm range... if that makes sense? lol

hybrids offer the best of both i.e. top end w quick spool. that's a non technical answer ... but i'm sure kevin/umw can elucidate you further and better.
