Hollow Spoke Valve Stems

Are the metal valve stems typically replaced when new tires are mounted on the stock hollow spoke wheels, or do these last significantly longer than standard rubber stems? If needed, I want to have some stems on hand for the tire shop when I have new tires mounted...

No they are not replaced, though I do keep a couple on hand just in case the tire shop does something and breaks them. Had it happen once and had to wait hours to get one so that is why.

I had a few with worn out rubber seals (at the base) last time I had new tires mounted. Had to get a few new valve stems at the dealer in order to get my tires mounted ( was charged around $15 each). Replacement O-rings were not available separately. Darn it!
I would look over the existing ones carefully and reuse if they look alright.

Should be if the job is done right.

Not what I want on a car that is capable of going nearly 190MPH. Old tired fatigued tire stems.

What's this "nearly" 190mph? :nono:

Factory quoted top speed of my 03 Turbo is 189mph. I've been assured by techs and owners who I have no reason to doubt the info that the actual top speed could be higher by a few mph.

Hence the " 'nearly' 190mph".

Even though I've never exceeded 168mph I still am glad new valve stems were used at the last tire replacement.
