Forgive me, but I would hate for this car to go to a dealer:

25,000 miles. My Mother-in-Law bought it new and it is a great car in perfect shape. This is the engine they should sell it with. Car is black over light tan leather. DVD, swiveling headlights, blind spot warning, seven seats, new tires, satellite radio, etc... all the goodies at the time.

Car has not seen a lot of snow as they head to Florida every winter. Car is in Cleveland, Ohio area.

I'll get some photos up in the classifieds shortly. Looking for low $30's - high $20's.

Price is set at $28,000.

My wife would love that. Good luck!

Not even a nibble?
A few photos...
Also has navigation system. Tires are not new, but have about 10,000 miles on them.

I was standing on my head to look at the pics but all the blood rushed to my brain and I got dizzy.

GLWS - looks like a nice ride.

Sorry about the photos... My in-laws shot them. Needless to say, they pursued other professions.

Best of luck with your sale. FWIW, a dealer will offer you a hair over $20k. Here are some real auction numbers. Your asking price is in line with what a Volvo dealer would sell it for, to generate interest privately you should adjust your pricing.

wisky:
Thanks for the info. A dealer offered $17,000 last year. My in-laws tend to go to a dealer and just "work it out" while they are there. Path of least resistance I guess. Before my wife and I were married my mother-in-law had a 5-series BWM; 8 years old with 11,000 miles on it. She worked less than a mile from home. She sold it to a dealer for $11,000 - I swore that would not happen again.

Micheal Pillay:
Thank you. Just responded - kids' sports and Mother's Day delayed my response.

17 is way low. As a "plan B", try the Autotrader car buying service. I've used it with a lot of success. It usually comes in at least ballpark to KBB and you end up with a certificate that you can bring to participating dealers and they have to honor it (assuming condition and car match what you put in). There are dealers participating that will trade, and others who will actually straight buy (I've done both)

I've used it three times and have not had a case yet where the dealers didn't honor the certificate. My guess is that if you check the Autotrader "trade in my car" value it will be low 20s. When you consider the aggravation of selling privately, and possible tax benefit if they are trading for a new car, I think its a really good alternative.

That's pretty cool. Thanks for the tip. No doubt private sales can be a pain in the neck. I have found the lower the value, the bigger the pain.
