Default Anyone know anything about this 2001 RUF Conversion?

It originally had a call the dealer for price.... so I contacted them

What they know of the car is its under consignment.
History is not known -- carfax shows the car had <90K miles
before the conversion.

I clicked on one of the pictures and the popup had a price of 73,991. It looks great, but with all the mods, you have to wonder how well sorted it actually is.

The only other thing (and this is a nit) is the GT2 badging. Even if it has a GT2 motor, it's VIN will list it as a Turbo. Could cause problems down the road.

You should call Hans Hoffman at RAC - he is part owner and oversees the service department. I've seen this car in person at RAC and it is awesome, but Hans could tell you all about it. The ad from the dealership is worthless, isn't it?

CARFAX is quite confusing on the car as well.

Interesting it appears the most recent owner titled it about a month ago?

Makes you a little nervous.....

I'd have to guess it was a salvage and RAC picked it up for almost nothing and used it to show-off their abilities. That doesn't make it a bad car, but it would be important to know what happened to it.

It's definitely not a RUF conversion - the only RUF parts appear to be the front bumper, steering wheel, and shift ****.

That said, it does appear to be a spare-no-expense rebuild, and is very nicely outfitted with high quality mods.

To me, the asking price is silly... you can buy a nice, real 996 GT2 (or a decent 997.1TT) for that kind of money.

I'd agree the money is significant, but darned if it isn't drop dead gorgeous. Then again how much is car with new parts pretty much top to bottom worth? The market will decide. 300+ hours at $100/hour, whoa. I wonder what their labor rate is at RAC.

I don't like that it's badged as a GT2. I have GT2 parts on my car too, but the parts don't make it a GT2...

build sheet says they are HRE P40, 20". You are right they look great. I love the carbon sill covers, although I would like to know where they come from, I would prefer them to say Turbo rather than GT2. Anyone know where they can be found?

You can buy a real GT2 or 997.1 turbo for that money.

Imho the car is sketchy, and the mods and labor value don't equate the asking price.

I think just as important to ask is why build it in the first place? Others have speculated that it was a wreck or just a project for someone to show off skills, but dayum.

It says they dropped a 0 mile GT2 motor into it. I would think that's probably a $35-$40K motor. I bet there is close to $10K in carbon fiber. suspension, brakes, custom interior, etc, etc. Add it all up and I bet you get pretty close to the asking price.
