Default Power steering tank/valve job....

03 Turbo got its squealing power steering valve replaced yesterday.

In case anyone is interested, here's the break down:

Labor: $320 (IIRC the hourly rate is $150 but maybe it has gone up to $160?)
Parts: $901.04 (list); $720.83 (net); 997-314-920-31.
Total: $1040.83 (does not include sales tax).

Tech reported he had some spare new power steering fluid and used that to top up the fluid level so there was no charge for fluid.

I see the invoice reads: PLEASE REPLACE POWER STEERING PUMP AS PER PREVIOUS DIAG. I was going to write that I think this is a catch-all as my info is just the valve was replaced, but there's a line further down on the invoice that says the power steering pump was replaced.

I have an email in to the tech asking for clarification.

Regardless, the car is quiet.

Heard back from the tech. The invoice comments are wrong. He offered to have a corrected invoice issued, but I declined.

He confirmed the power steering pump was not replaced. The power steering tank with its noisy valve was replaced with the new tank/valve.

Sincerely,

Macster.

If the tech offered the corrected invoice, take it. Great for a correct paperwork file.
