Just stocked up on some Mobil 1 5W50 which NAPA currently has on sale locally for $6.49/qt.

Nice price for individual quarts! It's too bad they don't package this spec in the 5-quart jugs that Walmart sells for $24-27.

How long do you think it will take you to go though 6 boxes?

That should work.
Mobil 1 has a shelf life of five years. It pays to check the manufacture date to make sure you know when the five years start.

Where do you see 5w50 available in 5qt? (I already checked Walmart to your claim)
Even the Mobil 1 website only lists it as available in 1qt.

I always use 0W40 so I did not check for 5W50 but I see you are right! Any reason you use 5W50?

I called Mobil 1 technical support months ago to confirm their expiration date for new oil in the bottle. They just said "Don't use it after five years on the shelf."
