Burning Brakes
Kevin,
I change the oil every 5000 miles with 0W-40 Mobil 1 - I have never inspected or torn apart an oil filter to see what is in there.
I'll contact Blackstone and see what they recommend for tests - in looking at their offerings it appears to be very extensive - what baseline testing has everyone else done so there would be a similar comparison of results.
Thanks

Other brands -- no names but you can guess -- require clutches and these are in some cases cars equipped with F1-style manual transmissions as well as the older style foot operated clutch -- timing belts, brakes (and some models have ceramic brakes) or other major work.
Sincerely,
Macster.

Here is a list I have compiled over the years for the repair work:
• All three front radiators (right front now twice)
• water pump
• coolant expansion tank (as a precaution with water pump)
• power steering pump/reservoir (for the annoying squeal)
• right front bearing, left rear bearing
• front diff (due to front bearing issue)
• clutch accumulator and slave cylinder (4 times now for the slave - one time lasted only 4 days and it failed - PCNA pulled all the parts on the shelves in the US as a result of this and a few others in the country with a similar issue)
• wiring harness repair (passenger side front most cylinder – harness to the coil pack chaffing issue)
• rear main seal (while engine was down for a wiring harness repair we pulled the tranny to inspect the bearings, clutch, pressure plate and flywheel)
• two bearings in the clutch assembly – one was bad, one was fine
• Decarbon the secondary air ports from the intakes to the exhaust
• Gas cap – the gasket finally went at 186,000+ miles
• Check valve and carbon canister on the vapor recovery system for the fuel tank
• normal services done on time
• brake pads (only on the 4th rear set and 5th front set - car has PCCB's and is tracked 6-10 days/year)
• oil changes every 5000 miles religiously – Mobil 1 0W-40
• tranny and diff fluids every 60,000 miles
• Baileys DV's
• GT-3 Cup front brake ducts
• Idler pulleys
• Belt (done a couple of times)
• Suspension will be replaced shortly (KW Clubsport)
• Carden shaft will be replaced (second time now) when the suspension is done
• All four half shafts will be replaced with the suspension
• Motorsport Sways and Tarett drops links will be replaced with the suspension
• Protomotive intercoolers going in when suspension is done
• Two rear heat shields will be replaced when the suspension is done
The car is on the original turbo's, original clutch and original engine still.

I missed this thread the first time.
Very impressive!!
One quick question/confirmation:
You have the oem GEN1 PCCBs with 300000miles, 6-10 track days a year, and the rotors are fine?
This is simply amazing.

Simply stunning achievement. I don't think I've driven 300k miles total in my life quite yet! Only 53k miles on my 996tt (4k of which I have done). This gives me confidence my 996tt will give me plenty of joy for a long time. On a side note, I am pretty proud of the 202k miles I've put on my DD '97 Mitsubishi Eclipse. It still has the original clutch as well and runs great. I kind of want to just see how long it will make it.
I look forward to hearing when you hit 400k miles.

This is why I have narrowed down the 996 TT as the next car to share driveway space with my NSX. Having a car that is fun, and can take piling on the miles without leaving you broke, is pretty sweet.

You won't regret.
