Default 996 turbo timing tools

Im looking for the tools to lock the cam, while replacing the timing chain, on a 996 turbo. thought I would try and locate a used set before purchasing a set from the dealer. If anyone has a Porsche tool #9661 and 9661/1 and wants to sell, I would be interested.
thanks,
Joel

Joel you probably know that you also need the tool to put tension on the chain while you are timing the cams. 9661 + 9661/1 + 9401 (2X).... Let us know how was the job and the used of those tools....

Joel- I assume replacing the timing chains and your error codes you were getting are related?

Yes, I am getting a code P1325. I started another thread some time ago.

https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...ode-p1325.html

Hopefully I will not need to replace the timing chains, just remove the intake cam and check the 3 seals that direct the oil flow for the variocam.

The chains shouldn't need to be replaced.

Kevin,
I was looking through the 996turbo PET for the part numbers for the 3 ring seals on the end of the intake cam. I can't seem to locate them, do you know where I can find the part numbers.
thanks,
Joel

Joel,
I'm in the same situation as you were needing to set the timing on a 996tt motor. Wondering if you still have the porche tools 9661 and 9661/1 and whether I might be able to rent them from you.
Thanks,
Jay

HI Joel,

I have the same OBD error code (P1325) and I have changed the vario actuator, adjuster and oil lines and still have the error code. Now I bought a camshaft intake to hopefully end with this issue. Just wondering why are you going to change the timing chain? I had been told that this error is more related to the camshaft intake than the timing chain.

I will appreciate your feedback on this one.

Thanks!

I did not change the timing chains. The whole repair includes changing the cam housing that directs the oil to the variocam. the center ring was gone and left a groove in the housing. I replaced all 3 rings and reassembled the engine. I don't know if you read this: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...ode-p1325.html Luckily (for me)PorscheDoc had the same thing going on at the same time and walked me through the whole thing.

I want to resurrect this old thread.

I need to change out the timing chain tensioner on 997 Turbo and want to know ...

1) If it can be done with engine in the car?
2) what cam holding tool is needed?

Thanks
