Default Checks on a Car

Hi everyone I was originally posting in the 964 forums but have now decided on a 05 996, only problem as some will say its a chicktronic which I really do not mind to much, anyway is there a data base I can check a chasis number to see what info Porsche has on the vehicle etc, incase some one knows the chasis number is WP0ZZZ99Z5S680454 engine number 64500790, this is not to see finance etc but more to see what Porsches data base has on the vehicle, any help appreciated thanks in advance

Not a valid VIN. Double check the number against the car's VIN tag visible through front glass on driver's side.

Sincerely,

Macster.

WP0ZZZ99Z5S680454 thats the VIN that shows on a search and also the same number the seller has given me, why would it show as wrong?

CarFax rejects the VIN. If another site accepts it and delivers reasonable and apparently accurate info then CarFax's VIN database has some error in it.

Or possibly VIN is not for a USA car.

Sincerely,

Macster.

It looks like a non-US VIN # (ZZZ).

I don't know about there - but in the US you can go to any Porsche dealer/OPC and they can look up the recall and workshop campaign history.

Yes, the differences are: 01 has no glovebox, no BOSE, shinny plastic buttons. 02+ has a glove box, less shinny buttons and BOSE sound system.

Is that the only difference between 01 and 05, no changes made between 02 and 05

actually the 03+ cars have fiber optics wires for the BOSE sound system, also they replaced the old CDR220 for a newer version, they might have added other options and colors to the option list, but I am not 100% sure
