Default Help - brake duct install

Putting some big 996 GT2 brake ducts up front, everything else there is stock. Suncoast stopped stocking the GT3RS ducts (not sure why) but these are very similar in size.

Looks like I will need to trim some plastic off both front and back ends to make it fit.

Anyone can confirm exactly where and how much they trimmed and have any close up pics installed etc?

Those look exactly like the ones I put on my car and I didn't trim anything. Just clip them on.

I ended up trimming a little off the end closest to the rotor, otherwise at full lock inwards it was pushing and buckling the duct. Also slit the other end and it slots in place nicely with the under tray plastic:

I do hear mine rubbing occasionally when turning lock to lock, but I immediately turn back a little so as not to permanently damage them. I've had them on my car almost a year now without problems.

Reviving this old thread, I am looking at doing the same, how have you found them since the install and what about on the track (what brakes are you running?)

Been tracking them for 3 years, no problems, GT3 6 piston yellow brakes. Since they move up and down alongside of the wheels, normal driving is not a concern. However, if there is something on the road surface such as a large rock or animal carcass, these can rip the ducts off. Go over these things in the middle of the car rather than near the wheels.

Can anybody confirm what is needed for the GT2 rear brake duct retrofit to the 996t? It looks like you need the duct and the rotor backing plate. Any DIY links?

You need nothing except some patience. The originals snap off and the replacements snap on but not that easily so be careful not to break the tabs. Easier if one person compresses the tabs and another closes the snap; a third hand is helpful. I put mine on for track and remove them after so I don't hit anything on the road, especially in the winter.

If your car is lowered it is more of an issue as they hang pretty low.

Good luck.

Warm up the tabs a skosh for breakage-free installs --

Nothing is needed on a 996tt. They are a direct fit without any modifications just like the GT3 RS ducts. Just drop in and go...

A lot of the part numbers posted for the front ducts are unavailable anywhere.

What part #'s are still recommended and where are you getting them?

Suncoast has both the GT3 and GT2 fronts in stock. Give Ryan Butor a call: (877) 923-1700.
GT2: 99634111790 AND 99634111890
GT3: PKGT3FRS

I have GT2's front, GT3RS rears on mine, no mods needed.
