TT Honking
Hi all,
Fairly new member and need help and advise. I have an '02 TT with 1200 miles. Started experiencing a loud moaning (honking?) between 4500-5500 rpms. I've read several posts indicating that the problem may stem from the diverter valves and it is an easy dealer fix. I've also heard that the replacement valves can also moan or honk.
Questions: is there another valve I can use that is different from the OEM's? If I buy aftermarket valves, is this a project for an average mechanic (me)?
Thanks.

If you do a quick search of this forum using "Diverter Valve", it will yield some good answers on this topic.
There are alloy bodied piston type replacement diverter valves available from various vendors that will eliminate the honking issue associated with the Bosch valve, as well as improving boost response after shifts.

Todd,
Thanks for the info. As you suggested, I went back to the archives and found a lot of helpful info. Especially about the Bailey valves. I'm on my way to your site and order a pair.
