Default Why do I have Amber Turn signal lens?

I am about to close the deal on a 2001 911 TT. It has an amber turn signal lens, but I noticed that some 911TTs have clear ones. What year did they start installing the clear ones? Where can I get the clears, and how much are they? Thanks in advance for the info.

If you are in the US (may want to put in your sig and become a member please),
then they come with amber lens. Call Eric at Bumperplugs and he will set you up
with some correct "starter goodies" like a plug to remove unsightly rear wiper,
clear lenses ect.

Good luck,

All US spec cars are required to have yellow/amber side markers (DOT requirement).

The clear side markers can be purchased from various sources and install in about 5 minutes (very simple DIY, instructions are per bulb replacement in your manual).
The clear side markers are also referred to as 'European/Euro side markers). You can leave the amber bulb in a clear marker or purchase a 'clear' bulb that will light up amber.

Some sources for these side markers:

(Eric is a rennlist sponsor and good guy; he also paints the rear bumperettes to match the body color, along with other paint services and of course, bumperplugs)

(popular OEM part supplier, cost + 15%)

Best of luck with your purchase

Just a note on this popular "clear side marker" mod.
Even with an amber bulb, these markers are not DOT compliant because you lose the amber front reflector!
Anyone ever get hassled over this?

It's never been an issue at the yearly MA RMV inspection sticker routine on any of my cars.
