Default Why is RUF banned from Rennlist?

Is this true? I read in another thread that RUF was banned from
Rennlist. Is it RUF AUTO CENTER that was banned?
Please provide info to those of us who do not know why
some of these very good "vendors" have been banned.

I think they were using the site to sell products.

Vendors only get banned when not a sponsor and deliberately spamming the board for business or unethical practices as a sponsor to members.

I do not know of the situation personally with RUF, however the above are examples are why people/companies get banned. Trolling by anyone is not tolerated.

As I recall (and it is a while ago), Ruf (Dallas) was promoting their business all over this site. They also used a number of "new members" with few posts to their names to promote the opening of the RUF facility in Dallas. They were warned and then banned. Non sponsors are not allowed to promote on Rennlist. It was pretty much the same thing with Neil@Orton too I think. Nothing personal in either case.

I am sure that nobody has ANYTHING against RUF, but even the US outlet of RUF has to play by the same rules eveeryone else does.

Other mods may have more info. I was not directly involved.

Thank you for clarifying.
I also believed that both (ORTON and RUF) were banned for the same reasons.
When someone doesnt know why, they may automatically think that there are reasons
not to use these people. In my experience both of these outfits are top notch and
are very good sources for things. I in fact have had good experiences with all the
Rennlist sponsors I have bought from, Steve @ Rennsport, Stephen @ I/A, Kevin
@ Ultimate Motorwerks, AJ-Usa, etc., etc.

No, actually you can make suggestions in my opinion. I personally think that if you are a sponsor you have some degree of knowledge and should help others. Paying to be a sponsor should not give you a right to be a moving bill board. According to the rules I guess that is ok. In all the post I have maybe 5 % is promoting product.

Personally I think your smart *** comment is out of line. I have been helping on these boards long before your time. Can you say a mailing list called "PorscheFans" ?

BTW it is StephEn not StephAN

Relax, didn’t mean to ruffle your ego. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings. For the most part that's pretty much how I speak. I meant' as in your "gear" not in a derogatory way.

Thanks for all the help. Could care less if you were here first. So what?

Oak, I also think your comment is way out of line. Stephen has been very helpful with advice and expertise to everyone on this board. He has never ever "pushed his sh*t" to quote you.

Marty,
I think you will find that John and Jen as well as the rest of the support staff (moderators) IE Bob, Marc etc all watch very closely to make sure that the Rennlist stays at an expected level. If someone has an issue they will watch the situation and get facts then act upon them.

The other thing is people like Kevin and myself were on these boards long before we owned these companies. For me it has been since the late 90s. Heck I can't recall when the email list PF was out. But it has been long before "boards" were around. We then had Porschelist and lastly Rennlist. Then the forum.

We all have a passion for this.

Bob, I apologize if you feel I am out of line. I guess it's a matter of perception.

You didn't ruffle my ego. LOL, and certainly not my feelings. You don't know me well enough to assume anything. Often confidence is misunderstood for an ego.

Stephen at IA is a good guy, never tries to hack his 'stuff', unlike others..cough, cough vividracing,969 cough...
He often gives good advice, come to think of it, I've never seen him try and sell anything. Funny how you don't need to be a billboard to be respected.

To set the record straight - RUF requested sponsorship and was declined. I know because I personally messaged the appropriate people to put RUF Dallas in contact with Rennlist to make it all legitimate. I thought it was a natural match and that Rennlist would happily take on RUF as a sponsor but it did not work out.

I am not privy to why RUF did not become a sponsor - and I respect Rennlist's right to respect (edit - accept) or reject sponsors as they see fit. But the guys at RUF are personal friends and examples of true Porsche enthusiasts - as can be attested by anyone who has worked with them. They are good guys.

Best Regards,

Ben
