Hey All,

I'm currently looking at purchasing a 2004 996 TT X50. I just had PPI done and have and got the DME. I know how to read it but would love any input from people here.

Total miles = 32.5k
Total Hours = 1070.1
Range 1 = 3209 @ 1047.4
Range 2 = 445 @ 1030.9

Thanks for any input.

DME reads on these cars pretty useless since range 2s can register on stock cars without mis-shifts. I've seen cars with more range 2 than range 1 which should technically be impossible, but it happens.

At the mileage and time driven the average speed is ~30 mph so it seems like it's had a relatively easy life as far as speed goes, I'd guess mostly pleasure driving rather than track use or aggressive driving.

As long as everything else checks out, I wouldn't be worried.

Your range 2 happened 40 hours ago, probably GTG.

You're fine, that's nothing since the R2s happened 40 hours ago. I track mine several times a year but don't always wind it up to redline because there's plenty of torque below that.
These reports seem to cause some a lot of concern but they don't tell much because you don't know how far beyond 7,250 rpm the engine went into range 2.
Could give an overall idea of how car was driven but not much else if car checks out fine.

Number of ignitions range 1 - 38058 / 3098.8h
Number of ignitions range 2 - 1226 / 3067.1h
