I like it too. I also have a 04 745li and I like the lines of that car as well. It's not my 996TT but it's not suppose to be.

I think the 6 is ugly, but I love the 5. Go figure.

The rear end of the 6 just ruins that car for me. I'm not sure why I've grown to like the sedans but not this coupe.

Default M 5 my thoughts....

saw the vid a few weeks bak...if true performance (and I am doubtful it is) then I'll drop the 911 TT in 6mo for the M5. I've had the TT for a month now and it isnt as stellar as the reviews led me to believe. I still love driving my Dinan 540ia.

How can something like this evolve in to something so silly. It's common knowledge that several major car manufacturers know how to produce the wanted HP.

Development
The BMW M5/M6 engine is of a later generation that the 996TT and the E55 AMG. I have no doubt that one of the goals with the BMW engine was to make it produce more than the previous generation MB/Porsche/Audi etc etc... engines. There is no point of getting upset with that. It's just about the same with new trannies, Launch Controls undsoweiter.

I'm also very confident that the 997TT will be goaled to give a higher output than the previous mentioned.

If you really would like to see the differences, the M6 and the 996TT are not really aimed at the same market. The M6 is a Gran Turismo and the 996TT is still something you can bring to the trackday. If you prefer the Porsche, do 400 laps and notice the difference. If you prefer the M6, look for the preferences for a GT car. The outcome will be for the one you're looking for.

Looks
Well, the M5 is growing for me, but the M6 is just butt-ugly. But you can not take away that BMW is pushing the envelope and developing the looks. Perhaps I'll like the M6 in the future, but for now it's just the Hunchback of Notre Dame on four wheels.

Gustav, any race with M5 and M6? How much is the M6 faster? I might able to drive a M5 next week and might able to test it with my stage 2 TT, stock TT and Gallardo.

Yes I do have M5 vs. M6 race. From 50 to 250 km/h not more than 1-2 carlengthst difference.

M5 vs. Galalrdo race is coming up this week as a movie as well

I find this interesting regardless of looks. The unladen weight of an M6 is 1710kgs, the Turbo weighs in at approx. 1580kgs and *should* have a flatter torque curve. But then, the difference is not that great - thats approximately how much faster my car is than a 996 3.6.....I also think the new V10 is amazing.....

Default Gutsav...

Perhaps this vid was last week as you claim, I can tell you that aprx 3-4 weeks ago I viewed several scenes and an entire write up on the M5 vs a lineup of cars. Not last week.
Still smells like a setup but we shall see when the mags review the cars. I love BMW's, but the idiocy of launch control leaves me wanting. 5 step process, according to one mag, to get a launch in the 4's...as if that happens when you drive like 99% of the pop light to light and get smoked by a Lexus IS350.

I want to believe tho. We shall see. Healthy debate.

Dustman,
Other than the initial problem you had, what is it about the TT isn't matching up with reviews?
