Default 996TT 30K Service...what's required?

If all goes well I will be adding an '01 996TT to the family. I have a PPI scheduled tomorrow upon passing it the deal is done. The car has 26K miles.
Will need 30K service soon. What should I expect and need for the 30K?

Thanks,

there have been multiple posts in the past for this-the big issue is the removal of the spark plugs and putting new ones in-you have to remove the rear bumper-apparently, the 30k service can easily be $2,000.

find a good dealer...some say $2100, I've heard some people got it for $900....Not sure why there is so much difference.

I am having the 30K done right now at my local dealer. It is similar to the 15K but with the spark plugs added. Mine is also a 2001. The cost is $1400 and given the 15K is around $600 the spark plug change is approx. $800.

I understand the 2002 and up tt's only needs to change plugs every 60K. My dealer tells me that the 2002 plugs will not fit a 2001. Is that right?

I'll be in the market for a 996 TT real soon and I'm debating if I should get a 01 or 02. If I can avoid changing the spark plugs until 60k and save $800+ by not changing the plugs at 30k, it will just give me one more reason to buy an 02. If Porsche changed the plugs from 01 to 02, I'm curious what other minor changes they did to the engine.

2002's call for spark plug change at 30k. I think it's the drive belt which also gets changed at the "big" 60k service.

If you perform the minor stuff yourself and let the dealer handle the plug change (and bumper removal) as well as the oil change, this should keep the cost close to $1k.

Just had mine done last week...plugs, oil change, etc came to just over $1100. I was pleasantly surprised.

Pauly, your dealer is smoking something.. Early cars came with a hotter FR5 plugs and all have been changed out to (colder) FR6's The plug dimensions are all the same and either can be placed in both cars. I'd change plugs in these car every 15K

I just picked up my car. They changed my plugs with 999-170-195-90 spark plugs.
Are these the FR6 or the FR5 plugs?

Major Service 30K (this is what my local dealer does, don't know if it is same as official Porsche recommendation)
Oil and Filter change, Front and Rear Brake Inspection, adjust tire pressure, check fluid levels, replace air filter and dust pollen filter, replace spark plugs (turbo only=remove and install intercoolers, drain and fill turbo oil tanks). Safety inspection, diagnosis of system (readout fault memory) visual inspection of underside of vehicle and engine compartment (for leak/fluid) inspect drive belt/coolant hoses/radiator and intakes/brake hoses/lines and operation/ drive shaft and boots/suspension bolts. Check tire condition and measure tread depth, inspect operation of all external lights and horn operation. Road test the vehicle after service, hand wash and vaccum.

Pauly, the plugs have been updated but the part number stays the same. If you open up a box you will see the FR6..

Vyper 340...Yes, the service was performed at the Porsche dealership in Fargo, ND. Service included everything but a brake flush, which was done when the car was certified about a year ago.
