Default Turbocharger oil and vent line replacement

Hi

I am in the process of removing and sending off both turbos for refurbishment before re-installing them in my 2002 TT. Can anyone offer any pointers or DIY tips on replacing the oil feeds, vent lines, ancillarys etc as I'm assuming it's good practice to do so when the turbos themselves are being refreshed ?

Thanks

unless you damage the lines when removing them theres no need to replace them. if you choose to suncoast has the best pricing. use proper flare wrenches to avoid stripping the heads of the fittings.

To be honest the cumulative effect of 17 years heat and corrosion means they are all but impossible to remove so at least some will need to be cut if not all

A good soaking with penetrating fluid overnight and little heat applied to the surrounding area just before removal can work wonders.

I had to replace the lines on my 997 Turbo last year due to that corrosion/heat cycling. Basically the turbos and the lines were corroded and fused together. The shop went at them with penetrating oils, huge wrenches and even a torch trying to separate them to no avail. I replaced the turbos, too.

My #1 advice is use a stat-o-seal on the connection between the oil check valve and the turbo body. Otherwise you'll be pulling your intercooler again and again to get it to seal, at least I had to. I did it twice before ditching the crush rings and moving to a stat-o-seal, no leaks since.
