Which one to choose
I am thinking to get a 996 tt coupe not a cab
both 2003 and both has Tipotronic
the factory x50 has 80k miles
the other has 49k from a dealer
both same price
i will lean more to x50
any major areas to ask/look at beside the spoiler hydraulics, coolant pipes pinned or welded
i believed both of them has minimum maintenance records
i will do a ppi

Any records, either on paper or Carfax? While most will say the lower mileage one, there is something to be said about a vehicle used routinely. Get whatever checks out better, report back with the PPIs.

I'm with Dock here, X50 turbo tip is an unexciting driving experience unless you are spooled up. You should really drive both to see which you like better.

The key to enjoying a Tiptrinic turbo, X 50 or not, is to use the buttons to downshift manually and stay on boost.

I had a 2001 Turbo with low mileages (less than 20K) 6 spd then one day at a car event I drove a 2004 X50 6 spd and traded up the next week. I have about 60K miles now and this Turbo is my go to car. I have several other Turbos a 993, and a 944 but the 2004 is an outstanding driving machine.
I would not be to concerned with the mileage if its in great shape, I have two friends in 996 Turbo's with well over 110K miles and they are not having any issues. I have not had any issues with either of my 996 Turbo. My 04 will always be in my garage and the one I drive the most.
If you want the X50 which I would use the lower mileage car to drive the price down if all things are equal.
You will not be disappointed
