Best source for new or rebuilt alternator

I have found in life there are some people who enjoy pulling an alternator and only replacing the voltage reg and then a year later pulling it again and only replacing the bearings etc etc."This is my grandpa's axe, my dad replaced the handle and I put a new head on it"
Others enjoy doing the job once using the "nuclear option" out the gate. Put in a brand new 150amp AL0815N from Bosch with a lifetime warranty and call it a day.
Not saying one approach is better than the other. These two camps rarely find common ground except when it comes to deriving joy from screaming from their soapbox that the other camp has no idea what they are doing.

it isn't about "camps". it's simply about what one can ( or cannot ) do, VS what you need to have others do for you.
yes, i realize what i'm saying has a political underpinning. it is apropos alternator replacement, equally

[QUOTE=nbressette;15769682]You lost me, but then again this was really just about alternators for me.
After careful cosideration from both sides of the Isle -im leaning conservative & will replace the entire alternator unit at my shop.

[QUOTE=RDS928S;15769983]do you mean you will pay your shop to do it? reason I ask is it really is an easy DIY. Although I only replaced the brushes It is a very easy clean and rewarding job...I recall bragging to my wife what a great job I did

remove a custom y-pipe, boost hose connections, complete air box & maf tube, F-pipe & two blow off valves, vacum lines & all electrical connections & the alternator in 5 mins. install @ $35.00 VR part & reverse the order in under 1 hr. Wow, u must think Russia still made Trump President.
No one called any one names.

Not worthy of any more conversation!

I may have had too much tequila, Mexico inspires that, but I wonder; how does a discussion about an alternator (still believe the VR should be swapped first, but hey...) devolve into this kind of banter?
You guys are so angry about this - have a beer and chillax, life is too f***ing short...

I think that if she's provided 18 years of service, out with the old, in with the new...
