Default Car just died

Ok still new to the turbo car but first problem happened today.
Normal driving not in boost car just died and won’t restart.
Am I safe assuming the fuel pump just died it shows no codes. Having it flatbeded home.
Makes no sense tries to start but won’t.

Fuel pump. When mine went I was able to idle the car at least, but any throttle added would sputter and stall the car. Flat bed it was.

There is a pressure hose in the tank on the fuel pump assembly that tends to split. Check that before you spend $$$ on a new pump.
Looks like this.

did it throw any codes?
I have not had the fuel pump issue but does it throw a code?
On my Touareg the fuel pump threw a code when it cracked...replaced it for $200 and then found out it was a recall item

No codes at all. Just died coasted into a parking lot and called for a flatbed. Find out more tomorrow or next day.

This happened to me 3 weeks ago. Was out of gas and gas gauge still read full. I had to replace battery the week before and some of the electrics were funky. No radio, full fuel tank reading, windows needed limit reset, etc. Crazy but, all set after driving a week or 2. Otherwise, there is a fuel pump upgrade recommended.

These things are 15 years old and if you haven't replaced the fuel pump and associated lines, you may be living on borrowed time.
This guy doesn't post a whole lot of DIYs because so many of already been done but he did a pretty good job here:

Edit: I'll be selling my nice jb3 arai helmet for a bigger one, lol

Thanks for that link. I didn’t think it was all that hard and it don’t really look that bad either.
On a good note it’s just under half tank.

Just remember this is blind one handed job. Once you stick your arm in there you will realize it's a by feel and will only use a few fingers to do the job of 2 hands lol

Siphon some out.
It's easy, I think I'd rather do the pump than filter.

Well the fuel pump is in and it runs again..
i would say that was one of the easiest fuel pumps I have ever replaced, I think it took about 45 minutes from start to finish and that includes trying to find a stupid 10 mm socket.
Just glad it was the simple, but I am now wondering if my pump was bad.
i don’t know if I knocked off the rubber line that’s on the old pump taking it out or if that if it came off causing it not to get enough pressure to run.
I’ll test the old pump just to be sure, but at least I know the pump is good now..
thanks for all the input everyone.
now I’m happy again, and the weather is getting nicer so top down and enjoying it..glad I got the cab.

The problem I had (multiple times) was the small hose in the fuel pump burst. The pump worked fine, just pumping fuel back into the tank...LOL It was first replaced under warranty and then the 2nd time it happened, my mechanic replaced the hose with a better Gates hose. Benn fine since.
