It doesn't look like it's a tragic loss for the GT2 RS buyers.

From the article:

"It's almost painful to look at pictures of the doomed ship, knowing that somewhere on board, the GT2 RS's 700-horsepower twin-turbo flat-six engine is submitting to a silent death, never to scream down the Nurburgring en route to a lap record again."

I can't believe....

Uhh....never mind.

And just today, Porsche has said it will build more to make up for the losses...

okay, lets imagine for a minute....what would you pay for a resurrected water salvaged GT2RS?

Pulled from the depths NOT started and delivered to your front door. (in this dream lets assume there is no body damage).

These were headed to South America.

Even if they weren't, if I had specced and ordered a $450k car, "go buy one that's already on the lot" wouldn't be an acceptable answer.

Recovered from a depth of 15,000 feet after weeks or months in salt water?

Ummm, no, other than a very compressed, very rusty sculpture.

Sounds like they might be a little crispy in addition to being water-logged.

Oh my, effective publicity indeed. Now the price on a used market with the replacement lot from Porsche will shoot through the roof.

There are not many companies that would do this. I guarantee it’s not a money maker; purely to give their customers what they ordered.

It's probably not going to be entirely out of Porsche's pocket, as either they or the shipping company (or both) have insurance on the cars.
