Your thought opinions on these 2 caes?

When I run the VIN things do not seem to match! Things that stand out: VIN says sport seats these are not. Red brake calipers? no Turbo S script on bat wing

What about this one techart aero kit cobb tune. Opinions on cobb tune

You definitely found a couple interesting examples. The first one is a salvage car, total loss vehicle. My guess is when they rebuilt it, they didn't return the PCCB brakes; instead went with standard steel brakes to save some money. Maybe they even sold the sports seats, made a little money, then installed standard ones. I would also question where was the car between July 2011 and December 2018? It says for sale both times with no buyer in between. I assume it didn't sell and was just sitting and being used by a dealer. Hard to tell.

The second one; Cobb makes a good tune for the 996. That wouldn't bother me. But that car has a huge number of mods. That's fine also if they are the mods you want; however many want something closer to stock.

Between the two, I would pick the second one.

I would keep looking. I just bought a real turbo s cab, 6MT, with a few tasteful mods, 50k+ miles, with a very desirable color combo, 2nd long time owner, for somewhere in between those cars. The car had a fully documented history and some really nice features. You never know where something will pop up. Be patient.

Oh, this car has a story to tell!

Stolen on 11/14/2010....then same date Accident reported/Vehicle involved in crash/It hit a stationary object/Airbags did not deploy

That's an automatic pass for 99% of us. Who needs that kind of history? It's priced $10K below market for a reason, but even if it were cheaper I'd still pass.

That second car has a body kit, not my cup of tea but if you love it go have a look, drive, and then PPI. Cobb Tune is fine, many of us are running off the shelf and custom Cobb tunes.

Good luck with your search...and be patient, there are many 996 Turbos out there, the right one will materialize eventually. Far better to walk from a few than to make a potentially costly mistake.

Big pass on both. too many very nice Turbos out there.

Run fast!

Mbren1979 03-13-2019 11:06 PM

First one sold for several grand less than they are asking back in june of 2011
http://www.usedcarsfsbo.com/asp/Item.asp?soldid=29922&make=porsche&theday=6%2F9%2F2011

if you could find some images of the actual damage i may consider it with a ppi that checks out. But would low ball them and a lot of digging on the history.

Wow. With the PCCBs gone I bet the rim or rims took a hit and cracked those rotors. Chances are suspension components compromised as well. Yea leave this one.

Wow, $68.5k for the 10k mile CAB on BAT. Are the 996TT on a uphill trend?

It’s a Turbo S

He's a collector with lots of money. THIS is not a normal sales price for these.

It takes two interested parties to drive up the bid, so it is a valid data point.
