New Exhaust Speedtech

I did the mod last week. Finally finished this Saturday and took the car out for a good run. I did the Speedtech 2.5 X pipe 100 cell cats. There is a major difference in performance. Spooling quicker and the pull is noticeably stronger. . The sound with the new tips is amazing. My car had the Europipe setup, which I am told is not very common on TT cars. Now I have two great exhausts that I can interchange as I feel. Ahh, more power. Thanks guys.

"Sounds" like you prefer the new Speedtech vs. the Europipe?

Do you know which Europipe it is? Stage 1 or Stage 2? Loud or quiet?

Ep is very deep sounding. Cat is 3" or 4" I have to measure. And weights much more than the Speedtech. Has the X50 double tips.

Are you sure it is a Europipe exhaust?

MezgerTT 02-10-2019 04:12 PM

Yep. That’s exactly right. The EP is what I’d call a gentleman’s exhaust. It’s deep and polite. Doesn’t draw attention at cold start or even WOT for long. It has a lazy pulling sound too, like you have to drag it along.

The SpeedTech or most Xpipes have more urgency and livelier. They sing at a higher note like a GT3. More burbles decelerating downhill too.

I got bored with the EP rather quickly. It looks more impressive than it sounds. It’s what the stock exhaust should’ve sounded like.

Which Europipe did you have?

X50 didn't come standard with double tips.

Stephencs601 02-11-2019 06:07 AM

The exhaust has been authenticated by my shop and Speedtech. it is a EP. Those tips are mostly associated with an X50, there were options on tips, that issue is complete.

If you’re interested in selling the Europipe, shoot me a message.

Stephencs601 02-11-2019 08:48 AM

I thought about selling it. If the right price comes my way I might, if not, it goes on the shelf with all the Turbos, and other parts from many vehicles.

They are likely X54 tips.

I have the 3" muffler-less version with 100dpi cats, ceramic coated, slash cut tips. Must say I very much love it!

MezgerTT 02-11-2019 07:59 PM

It weights like 25 lbs less than the EP. I appreciate it every time I haul my ass around a corner.

John makes some 2.5” dual round tips that look great. They really fill out the bumper exhaust cutouts nicely. Only thing is they are quite a bit louder than using the OEM tips.
