I have a set of both the Michelin's and the Falkens (235/315), and I have to say that the Falkens are much quieter and have more 'stick' than that of its French counterpart. This may in fact be due to the fact that Falken has been developing the tire constantly for years, where Michelin is still making the same tire from 2001.

The only downside I see with the Falkens is that they are speed restricted to 168MPH, so there will be no autobahn for you... I cannot even remember the last time I even got to 150mph, so this wasn't a deal breaker for me.

Kinda doubt I'll be hitting 170mph anytime soon. I hit around 140mph on the tracks here, that's plenty.

I tried the Star Spec IIs (200tdw) and then RE71Rs (200tdw) on my '88 Carrera and was impressed with both until I tried the Toyo R888R (100tdw "track tire")

I drove them across country on a 5200mi trip involving some panic stops, high speeds and plenty of fun canyons driving at the limit.

My wife has a 997 4S with the 235/305 and we will be putting them on her car as well since it is just a fair-weather toy.

Got the tires on and I'm wondering if I ordered the wrong sizes. I got a 315/30/18 rear and 245/40/18 front. Seems like I'm rubbing on the fender liners, probably in the rear. I haven't driven the car, just backed it out of the garage lift and back on again yesterday because I had to put my truck on the lift to work on it.

Could definitely feel/hear rubbing, even while going straight, which is making me suspect the rear tires. I'll look today when I get home. Should I have ordered 305 rears and 235 fronts? If so, I'll call Discount Tire and see if I can swap these out since they have no road miles on them...

The rears are rubbing on the inside at the back of the fender liner. Easy fix is remove the fastener screw at the bottom, bend the bracket back and used a heat gun soften the liner and conform it to the new bracket position.

I'll give that a go this Friday. I'm planning on bleeding the brakes anyways so I'll have the wheels off.

I have same size tires, no rolled fenders, no noticeable rubbing. What's the rear offset?

Also, the Azenis are definitely on the narrow side for 315/30-18. Doesn't explain why yours rub, but I think rubbing is a bigger problem with some of the other tire options.

Carlo, I've seen this mentioned a few times, but don't really see how it's possible after looking at it on my car.

The OEM rear fender liner bracket is pretty much right up against the intercooler intake tube, so I don't see how it could really be bent any more. Maybe a mm or two or so if it was in constant contact with the intercooler hose, which I don't think would be a great idea anyway...

The GT2 bracket, which I have yet to order, is significantly shorter than the oem bracket, so it can pull the liner away from a bit higher (closer to where they typically rub). Perhaps the stock bracket could be cut, bent, re-drilled to mimic the shape of the GT2 bracket, but probably not worth the hassle vs. the $150 or so it runs for a pair of GT2 brackets?

there are no 305s for our cars. It's really 295/30 or 315/30. And as someone else said, the Falken is actually a narrower 315 compared to Michelin PS2s and the BFG Rivals.

If you're rubbing on the inner liners, perhaps your wheel offset needs to be more aggressive? Do you know the offset for those wheels? Some guys run spacers to push them out a little. I had my Forgestars made with +5mm more offset than stock to help with this when I run 315s.

Sounds like your two options are to mod the fender liners or get some spacers, how thick is the question, but I'm guessing 5-10mm? Knowing your current rear offsets will help in the equation.

Are you running OEM intake tubes?

On my car I had about 10mm of space to play with. Bent the bracket back, warmed up the entire back side of the liner to conform it to the new position, no problems. You don't need much additional clearance to fit the 315 tire.
