Default Price check on a set of BBS RS-GT wheels

Friend has a set of these that were used by the previous owner of his car as winter wheels. As such, they show the kind of wear to the finish that you'd expect, they're in pretty rough cosmetic condition. My plan is to either use them as winter wheels also, or more likely, to use as my race wheels.

Because of that, I don't really plan to refinish the wheels and make them factory fresh as the finish will just get damaged again by either winter road salt or race pad dust.

These wheels sell for ~$4000 new from Tire Rack, what do you think is a reasonable price to pay for them? Usually I'd think 50% of new but that assumes that they're in really good shape, not the current condition. I figure it could cost $1000+ to refinish them...

I'd say a grand max. There's three sets on ebay right now in good condition for around $1500.

kmagnuss, have links? I searched on eBay and didn't see any. If a set in good shape is really $1500, even $1000 for these may be too much as I doubt I could get them refinished for $500. I suspect it'd cost more than $125/wheel to refinish them.

So maybe more like $800 for the set...

Another important question is the specs. I don't think these came any wider than 18x11, so for track wheels they're not ideal. If they were used as winters they may be narrower rears (which is fine if you're going the winter route). You can definitely DIY or have someone refinish them for reasonably cheap if you want something quick and dirty. But they're 2 piece so should be split for a proper refinish which will be more $$ (your estimate of about $125-150/wheel is probably about right). If they were in rough cosmetic condition, I would pay $900 max. If the finish is good enough to use as winter wheels, then I might pay up to $1.2k.

TrillyPop, I looked at two of the wheels yesterday, the rear ones. They were in better shape than I remembered, they'll actually clean up nicely. However, you're right, since they were used as winter wheels they're only 10" wide in the back.

That kinda kills my idea of using them as summer street or race wheels, they're too narrow. I could use them for snow wheels but the reality is I doubt I'll drive the car in the winter, well, ever. There's also another set of BBS wheels with good snow tires mounted on them for basically the same price. So if I want a snow setup, I should just buy those...
