I liked to go fast all my life. Modifying cars I have done since 1974 starting off with muscle cars. I remember, headers and flow thru dual exhausts, cams, roller rockers, balancing, blue printing and so on. It was a blast. But I did it different, I lowered compression and did Air research turbos, when everyone else did High compression motors. I cleaned up, made a ton of money and at 18 bought my first home cash. Now, every vehicle I own has a turbo. My wifes car is a MB convertible, night Edition, AMG. Car is a beast and so much fun to drive. She only wants a turbo car, can't blame her.

Now my 996 needs to have the upgrades, again, give me power and speed. I am hoping this is the last mod I do. I love a great sounding car and from all I have seen and heard, Speedtech seems to fit my needs. The guys gave me a great price, and have updated me on the shipping time. My shop had previously broke the old bolts off exhaust on the last Motor/Trans removal, so install should be a snap. Going to use the old tips, like the look. Since the car is an X50, I expect this to be a great change and help the Softronic mod really do what was intended. I will update as soon as I do the install.

X50 cars have more drone/noise with the larger k24 turbines than the K16 cars. But they also get up the max safe HP with stock injectors with just a few simple mods. Enjoy, it going to be a beast.

I without question love my 996 Turbo. As a total package it is by far the best car I've ever driven. However, the throttle response a high horsepower, high torque, high compression engine provides is by far better than any turbocharged car I've ever driven, and something that adds greatly to the driving experience, even without going fast.

Yes from the start, but in 1/4 mile I destroyed them. Once the turbo kicked in, I flew past them and they were shocked. Best is I took their money.

I'm primarily talking about street driving; the "driving experience".

I’ve been running with John’s SpeedTech 2.5 Xcellerator with 100 cellcats since 2010. Every cold start and drive is still a pleasure to the senses. No drone at cruise, neighbor and police friendly, and full song at WOT. Best of all, it’s still passing CA smog check after all these years on the same cats, even though I’m still anxious about the possibility of failing every time. It’s the most balanced exhaust I’ve had and never had to upgrade or downgrade again.

I had the pleasure of speaking to John yesterday. Great guys at speedtech, and they know their product very well and what I should expect from it. I feel very secure knowing they like what they do and deliver a good product, from all the feedback that I have been given. Can't wait to install the exhaust.

It’d be fun to compare the various “quiet” versions in person with at least stage one tuned cars

I went through 3 different exhausts and found the sweet spot with my Ruf exhaust. 100 cell cats no drone and a F1 scream at full throttle.

Thanks for the shout out! Some people don't like that, but those that do love it! I think it makes it look more like a high performance machine, which it certainly is!

Might be a little too raucous for those putting real mileage on the car but since mine is basically a toy for me, I love the sound.

Made a huge difference in power, really uncorked the car
Thanks for the love, glad you're still enjoying it!

If I'm not mistaken - I believe you ordered our competition exhaust, thank you! If you email me at mike@soulpp.com I can send you pics of it being made!

It's a blasted finish. We do this as it offers a nice, uniform final result. During the manufacturing process it also reveals any imperfections in the welding - so we make sure every weld is on point with no pinholes before it passes inspection and gets completed. It also cleans the welds. A side benefit is any road debris is less prone to stick to the finish as the microscopic peaks and valleys can reduce adhesion. We have a great relationship with Jet-Hot should anyone want their exhaust ceramic coated, color choice is entirely up to you!

Here is a closer look:

If anyone has any questions, we're always happy to help!

After 30 years of marriage, i still amaze my wife, she just said today, "let me get this right, you are ordering parts for a car that hasn't even shipped yet?" my reply was, people buy clothes for kids that aren't born yet....makes sense. so YES!

Thanks Mike.

I looked at the pricing, it was way more then I was willing to spend, and Speedtech offered great pricing for what I wanted. Give me quality and pricing and I will buy.
