Front shock top mounts

Hello fellow 996tters

my 03 tt is making the squeaking sound when turning. My local Indy replace the front thrust arms only a week later the squeaking sound return. Now they told me to replace the top mounts. The dilemma is should I just stick to the stock Porsche units or should I upgrade to the Tarrets units. My car is 99% street use but I do exercise her regularly. I’m getting old now, so squeaking car drives me but. Thank you for your guidance

stick with the oem mounts.

Sounds like stock mounts would be the way to go in your case as the monoball ones will make a good bit more noise.

look into the elephant conversion units. you cut out the rubber from the oem mounts and a monoball is installed and screwed into place. about 300$ for the set for the front

If you want a cheap OEM solution, get the OEM 997 turbo front strut mounts. They are a direct replacement for the 996 ones and 90 per side on suncoast.

^^^ this is what I did on my recent suspension install.

997-343-015-02 and 997-343-016-02. Order the bearing plates as well, you will likely need them. 996-343-501-00

Why do they even bother making the 996 mounts if the 997 mounts are half the cost?

pfbz 01-10-2019 05:30 PM

They probably don't make them anymore but Porsche still has plenty in inventory?

Carlo_Carrera 01-10-2019 06:53 PM

I'll buy that.
