Clutch Kit Components

Hi,

I'm looking into a replacement clutch/pressure plate combo for my 2001 911 turbo and I found the Sachs K7028402 kit (I believe this is the GT2 kit) for a pretty reasonable price. I had some trouble determining what exactly the individual parts were so I contacted Sachs directly for the info. They told me that the kit includes the following:
  • 3082 213 136 Pressure Plate
  • 1864 000 141 Clutch Disk
  • 3151 000 464 Releaser
  • 4200 080 060 Grease
When I inquired as to the torque rating for the kit, they told me it is the OEM specification of the vehicle +10%. My car has a 1.0 bar tune and exhaust, not making that much more than stock. I daily drive it and do a handful of DEs every year.

Ideally, I think I would prefer to have the 3082 999 764 pressure plate and the GT2 clutch disk (996 116 015 01) as that is what the previous owner's records indicate is in the car right now and I like the feel. But if the kit parts are comparable, it might be worth the cost difference. The part I'm having trouble with is figuring out how the 764 pressure plate and GT2 disk compare to the components in the Sachs clutch kit. I was not able to find a Porsche part number for the clutch disk the kit includes, and the Sachs part number I found for the GT2 clutch disk (SD80440) does not match their usual numbering system, so I'm not sure if they are the same or not. The pressure plate in the kit is clearly different and the torque rating seems lower than what I've read the 764 plate and GT2 disk can handle.

Does anyone have any info they can add? I'd really appreciate it.

Look at the posts from Kevin UMW here. He has provided many of us here with the correct set up.

if you get the OEM 996 turbo sachs clutch kit and add/swap for the UNsprung gt2 disc. thats all you need, and then some up to 450/475+ whp. as opposed to the OEM sprung hub that was stock on the 96t.

the advice to reach out to Kevin is sage, but that said, it's just a clutch and i'm sure he has them as do many suppliers. i use pelican parts.

mwood Feel free to give me a call or email me. I might have sold the current clutch 764/GT2 clutch disk combination that you have. I would recommend this combination for a Tuned/DE car.. It's the torque rating that you need and the 764 SRE pressure plate offers that. Along with additional safety straps and stronger spring/springs vs the stock plate.

Talked to Kevin and I'll be going with the GT2 disk and 764 pressure plate. Thanks.
