Hey pfbz,
I can spec whatever I need with Forgeline (I think), and could go with slightly narrower rear tires if needed too. As I did see your original response in e-mail, just wanted to reply to you.

of course it is your car but depending on your track experience you may want to hold off changing the brakes unless you are simply upgrading the pads to rack pads. Stock brakes are pretty powerful as is. If you are going to really push on track you may need many mods, such as transmission cooler, ducting etc... These cars are fun on track but to really push them it takes a lot of money and can be done cheaper on another platform. Good luck whatever you do.

hey steve, you know your car, the platform, and cars.
and as you know, this platform has tried and proven either combo of 8.5 or 9X12. gt2 sizes/offsets have yet to be improved upon. i traded my 9" fronts as i felt they "plowed" a bit with my canyon driving. but i'd never swap back from the 12" rears. plant and stance.

and as you know, this platform has tried and proven either combo of 8.5 or 9X12. gt2 sizes/offsets have yet to be improved upon. i traded my 9" fronts as i felt they "plowed" a bit with my canyon driving. but i'd never swap back from the 12" rears. plant and stance.

This same RennList community is who I have to thank for understanding my PCCBs when I bought my 2010 GT3 RS back in 2013, and I've always been thankful for that.

Hey Turbodan,
Thanks for the comment. I'v been doing DE's and time trials for 10+ years and have a fully built E36M3 track/race car and will only be tracking the TT a couple times a year. I only want to buy one set of 2nd wheels (for the track) for the turbo and I know not all wheels will accommodate big brake kits which is why I put that in there. Upgrading the brakes is farther down on my list which I may or may not do because it's more of a street car than track.

OK, so now I'm just trying to decide on finish color, and it's between satin bronze and titanium. My 996TT is Carrara White in color. I have a set of the satin black GA1R wheels on my gunmetal gray GT-R, but know I want something else this time.

I realize you’re looking for 18” and mine are 19”, but here are some side pics for reference of offsets. I experimented with a few setups before these e88’s were made based on my specs.
Front is 8.5” wide, +43 with 245 tire
Rear is 12” wide, +42 with 305 tire
Had the rear fender lips shaved and am running GT2 liner brackets to clear. No rubbing at all with H&R springs.

I have a 2001 996 Turbo and I just bought a set of 19” BBS e 88’s 9” front and 12” rears I have 235/35/19 tires for the fronts and 305/30/19 on order for the rears which should be arriving later this week. Should this be an easy install or should I expect to have to make any modifications?
I bought this rims rims off a buddy as they are in amazing shape and with a black 996 TT I thought that it would look cool with the gold/silver BBS e 88’s. However, I’ve been reading online and keep seeing talk about if tracking the car then the 18” rims would work better. I plan to do 2 or 3 track days a rear and wondering if I have put myself in a situation where when tracking I will have to go back to the original 18” P rims? I don’t have any suspension MODS currently all stock configuration.
Hoping that I can get some advice here from yourself or anyone else that has been in this situation with a 996 TT fitting BBS e88’s 19’s

I've wondered why those who are still AWD don't run 9's and 11's with 255/35/18 + 295/30/18. GT2's are able to run a bigger diameter tire in the rear since they are RWD, and it also makes sense that you wouldn't necessarily want to add oversteer on the widowmaker. On AWD cars, though, combating understeer seems like the challenge. In my experience, stock tire sizes and 245/40/18 + 315/30/18 both understeer at the limit, especially with stock alignment.

255/35/18 + 295/30/18 is very edgy combination. Understeer is annoying. Oversteer will get you killed.
I run 245/40/18 + 315/30/18 with adjustable sway bars and on track the car is damn near perfectly neutral for my corner style.

Makes sense. I should have added that most of my experience near the limit has been at AutoX, where the speeds are much less dangerous, and understeer is more of an issue. Still, I know we have some good drivers here.
