Shifter?
Gents,
Can anyone recommend a nice OEM shifter upgrade for a 2001 996 Turbo? Mine has an aftermarket short shifter that is horribly rough in my mind. I'm looking for something OEM and smooth. Can anyone recommend one and a link where to buy? Cheers, Mat |
oem 997 ssk is the usual upgrade for those that want to retain an improved, yet oem feel. shortens the throw with no downside.
do you know what you currently have? do you know when the last time you changed gear oil was? |

997 GT3 is nice for a little less money.

For silky smooth engagement >> my opinion is the 997GT3 shifter. It's not as notchy as the 997SSK.

Having trouble locating the 997 GT3 shifter. Who has them and what part #?

New Porsche 964 RS motor mounts, .2gt3 shifter, and if it doesn't feel better after that call Brian Copans. Then go balls deep or sell.

I have a 997 SSK w/ Function First SRS installed sitting around if anyone is interested and wants the short throw.

I just ordered my own 997 GT3 short shifter (and GT3 brake ducts) from Suncoast, looks like they are beating the price from Sonnen slightly right now.
https://www.suncoastparts.com/produc...T3CONSOLE.html I've had the 997 and 997 SSK shifters before and feel the SSK is a bit too much in the notchy department. The standard 997 throw is 'just right' in my opinion, but I have never owned the Numeric so cannot comment on that. One thing we can all agree on is that the standard 996 throw is way too long! :) |
Just picked up the 997 shifter myself. Had this in a previous 996TT and it was not only a fun upgrade to do, but also seriously improved shifting and engagement. Coupled with new fluids my 1-2 shifting improved immensely! |
after a track day - Numeric all day - amazing difference
