Default Taking car in for transmission/transfercase leak, what preventative work should I do?

Taking the “new to me” 03 Turbo X50 tip in to get the transmission leak and and possibly the backup switch checked (no lights or beeping when backing up).

Transmission will be out, so wondering what else I should ask for to get a head start on preventative maintenance? Thinking of upgrading to 997.1 transmission mounts. Anything else?

PPI only showed that one leak.

The faulty back up light switch is on the gear sector, not in the transmission. Very common fault. DIY here: https://www.renntech.org/forums/topi...ght-20012-tip/

Upgrading trans mount is a good idea, might as well change ATF fluid and filter too.

Also check the guibo in the front drive shaft. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...ibo-giubo.html

Got the car back today. It ended up needed quite a bit more than just the transmission/transfer case leak, but doing it all at once definitely was easier with the engine and transmission out:
  • Transmission/Transfer case leak - replaced gaskets and resealed.
  • Spark plugs
  • Water pump
  • Belts
  • Coolant expansion tank
  • Transmission mounts (upgraded to 997 turbo spec)
  • All fluids (transmission/transfer case, oil change, brake fluid, coolant)
  • All filters

Can't say enough good things about Auto Strasse in Costa Mesa and Robert (owner) specifically! Drove over 30 miles and well worth it - excellent service and very reasonable prices. Another local shop quoted me 65% of what I paid for everything to just do the transmission.
