Help! 996TT to GT2 front end conversion parts/shops??
 

Hello all, I realize that I'm roughly 15 (or maybe 10) years late to the party but I acquired a 2002 996TT about a year ago with the GT2 fixed wing installed. The car came with an aftermarket GT2 front bumper (uninstalled) and in researching what's necessary, I came across a number of threads, the most detailed of which is this:

Here's where my problem begins. I can't find the parts to make this conversion happen. So I'm down to a few options. I don't mind doing the work myself if I can find the parts and I'm equally willing to send the car to a shop (preferably in Northern California) to have the work done. The key is that I want the conversion done so that it is a functional build, meaning correct ducting, flipped and tilted radiator, etc., simply throwing on the front bumper is not the plan. Any ideas?? Anyone have a source for the parts or a shop they know has done this before? Thanks in advance.

i applaud your wanting to do this properly with ducting etc, and it ain't cheap to do in relative terms. surely why most slap on a gt2 replica and are done.

if i were in NorCal i'd start hitting up the locals ( sharkwerks/scargo etc ) that have doubtless done many of these "properly", and ask for their advice also. GL with it.

I'm not looking for cheap, I'm looking for properly done. I've got a huge soft spot for this car.... Unfortunately, I am striking out with the big names. I've contacted those you mention above and been informed this isn't work they do any more. No hard feelings there, as I understand they're busy keeping up with the latest and greatest but it is making this tough. If anyone has suggestions for the work or even a line on the needed parts, please let me know.

re: "cheap" i read in your post you are going to do it properly and i also thought of the places up north i knew of that could do it time permitting. problem is, it's not the kind of "work" a shop realizes their usual return on. you need to "know a guy", or as you said, DIY. many have come before you and that thread you posted has the part numbers etc.

thanks, i was low on inspiration when i "joined" lol. again, GL with it, and props that you're gonna do it properly.

If you can till I get home I'll get you a few diy links to do a full gt2 front end. Dig deep I spent close to 4k$ for all the parts and labor by me. Virtually every part will have to come from Germany so shipping will also cost more than normal

That cost figure is actually about what I had in mind (I actually thought closer to $5k). As I said, I can do the work but I can't find the parts. Where did you locate them? Any help you can throw me with links would be great too. Thanks krazy!

ypu can buy the gt2 center radiator brackets for about 500$ or simply bend the existing brackets to fit the slanted radiator. same for the cooant hoses. close to 1000$ for the entire coolant line conversion or get the gt2 coolant hoses and cut them to fit the conversion.

my conversion was close to 3 yrs ago. the cost is based on the euro and varies day to day. as i said before virtually none of these parts are in the usa so shipping cost is going to be costly from germany

you can consider the ruf front bumper as a option. about 3k$ plus shipping and comes woth all the needed ductwork

The parts are all in PET clearly labeled "GT2". Simply look at the bumper PET diagrams
