Default C2 uprights conversion discussion

Thinking of getting C2 uprights when I go 2wd to improve steering feel.

Does anyone know the difference in diameter between C2 and turbo struts?

I'm thinking of keeping my tt PSS9's and boring out the C2 uprights to fit (as long as the difference isn't too great.) Also, of the C2 upright variations (986, 996, 997, 987, etc), which is the beefiest for this project?

I did this a few years ago when converting my Ducati from Showa to Ohlins forks- they use the same bottom yoke with different bores, and Ohlins yokes are rare and expensive. Was wondering if the same idea couldn't be applied here.

Why? Geometry? Strength? Bore diameter?

So, will tt struts fit GT2/3 uprights without modification?

GT strut diameter is narrower than the TT struts, you will need a bushing/liner to fit correctly.

I think keeping the TT carriers would be a better a choice than going to C2. if you plan on switching I would go with GT uprights.

don't see any real issue using C2 uprights, but you may need to go aftermarket on brakes to get big enough
TT struts are too big O.D. to fit into GT2/3 uprights

Ah. Brake clearance problem? I have GT3 6 pots.

IIRC, 997's have the same bolt spacing as 996tt, correct?

Also, wrt: strut diameter, I was thinking of boring the upright to fit the tt strut if it’s not too big of a difference.

most tt aftermarket struts come with an adapter sleeve. basically its a gt2 strut with a removable sleeve. no need to mess up the struts by drilling them

I'll go look at mine. Anyone know offhand if PSS9's use a sleeve? I installed them on my C2 and don't remember one, but my tt came with them.

If it's too much trouble, maybe it's time to sell those, and upgrade to Ohlins...

Does the c2 bearing and hub fit a 6TT upright? Bc that would be the simplest way to do so.

C2 upright is basically identical to the GT3 upright but uses a much smaller bearing than a GT2/3/Cup upright or the TT upright, both of which share the larger bearing. The C2 bearing uses the small Boxster bearing which will fail under hard track. I would not do it.

John, is there more material on the GT3 upright or are the casting practically identical other than the bore? Or could the C2 upright be bored out to fit the larger bearing?

It can not be bored out. Larger bearing is also wider.
