I sent my transmission out to fix 2nd gear pop out and now it's worse.
Before I escalate the situation, can it be anything else?
I did the removal and installation so this really sucks.

Most likely the shop shimmed your second gear and now the alignment is pushed enough to make it worse. Or you have a bent shift fork or faulty shifter alignment.
The only way to correct this failure long term is:
1) Replace the mainshaft and first second gear NEW from Porsche
2) Buy the 997GT2 mainshaft with 1st and 2nd gear. (cheaper than option 1)

Machining the gearset and adding shims just isn't the long term fix. This has been done for 10 years plus and it really hasn't worked long term!
The gearbox fails in "X" amount of miles and the owner or new owner needs to spend more monies to have it fixed again.

2nd gear and syncro were replaced.
The shifter cable just popped back on when I installed it.

With what? the PAIR matching gears? Or a single second gear pressed on and shimmed? Find out?

You also need to get the white alignment tool AND do a alignment (if you have the stock shifter) The 997TT shifter needs the green tool.

I'll get the box of old parts and take a picture. if my memory serves me correctly there was just 1 gear and 1 syncro and a couple of shim looking pieces. Sorry to be vague.

lift the boot and install the shifter alignment tool. then attach the cables and adjust as needed. the tool sets the shifter in the proper nuetral position. as for the gbox it doesnt cause 2nd gear popout . improper shimming of the gearset is what caused the popout

I didn't make any changes to the cables. Why would they need to be adjusted?

You don't think that removing a gearbox, taking it apart, and removing the shiftfork and then installing the shiftfork >>doesn't merit a shifter cable alignment?

I would make the assumption that the shims thickness if "OFF" and you will need to have your gearbox torn apart and re-shimmed.

So you are saying that the shift mechanism in the gearbox would have changed and now I need to move the shifter to match it?
Yes I think the gearbox has to be redone, but I'm trying to avoid pointing any fingers before I know it is not something I did first.

So during the warranty repair process>>you are going to be asked.. Did you "align" your shift cables. They do stretch in time.. Maybe your alignment is incorrect at 100K miles or XYZ miles.. Order or borrow the "plastic alignment tool"

Did you personally install that shifter?

No. It came with the car and the person I bought it from had no history on the car. I have driven cars with the stock shifter and this one is much better.
