Default Upgraded entire stereo ended up with a bunch of engine noise

I replaced everything including wiring. Spent 2 weeks working on it. Today I finished it and when I started the car up you can hear the engine noise even with the volume all the way down. Is it possible to get rid of the noise with a filter?

I'm no audio expert but isnt this issue usually caused by lack of good grounding?

It's a ground loop. You can install a ground loop isolator... turn down your amp(s), or move your ground(s) to better locations.

Thanks. I grounded the amp to the neg. side of the battery, grounded the combat sub to the frame and the receiver to the existing radio ground. Where did I screw up?

That will create a ground loop in many cases. Try moving amp ground to the chassis see if that improves.
If not locate grounds together. Try a loop isolator. Ensure your rca are good and shielded.

I see what you did there ;-)

I prefer the adequate stock sound system turned off during spirited driving. The much younger version of me would have blown out the speakers by now!

U know this was my first Porsche. I wanted a 911 Turbo since I was 14. I had the car for a few days when I decided to upgrade the stereo so I started to take it apart in my garage and by the time I realized that I would much rather listen to the motor while I was driving it instead to listening to music it was too late. I was too deep in the tear down and had tpo go ahead and replace the receiver, wiring and all the speakers. I spent over 2 weeks working on it and have owned the car for about 3 weeks.

I found out the whining engine noise I was getting was from the gain being set too high on the amp. I purchased a Kenwood compact subwoofer and was very disappointed with the sound. I do not want to make any holes bigger or put any big woofer boxes in the car. What do you guys recommend for a compact powered sub?

I love my new car and I will post pics. in the next couple of days.

Were you driving the car after you started to take it apart in your garage?

I owned the car for only 2 days before I decided to upgrade the stereo. But now the fun
starts!

But once you started the audio work, were you driving the car?

No. Took out the door panels and started running new wire from the start and did not realize it was going to b such a big job. Running the wire and custom fitting the speakers to the original covers took some work.
