If this was a 993, modding is unthinkable, however 996's have lots of tastefully done improvements. Stay away from the cheesy E bay head and tail lights.
These are tastefully done and well integrated

I knew once the chrome shroud was cut that was the point of no return but I had a sheet of abs I used for a new backing to attach the strips and needed a little bit of Bondo to flatten the bottom lip.

all in all it took me about 2-3 weekends to complete but I took my time to plan out the next move. If I did it again I'd say probably a good solid weekend. The longest part is just waiting for paint to dry.
